AI+Life Science Technology Developer
Recently, OXTIUM was awarded special funding under the Shenzhen High-Level Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team Program, totaling tens of millions of RMB. This support signifies high recognition of OXTIUM’s technical prowess and commercialization potential in the field of “AI for Biological Sciences.” As an innovation pioneer in this domain, OXTIUM leverages its independently developed multi-omics AI large model, GeneLLM™, and its one-stop life science research platform, BioFord™, to provide cutting-edge solutions for basic scientific research and the translation of achievements into practical applications—such as early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and preterm birth, as well as the domestic replacement of imported advanced assay kits. The special funding will be primarily used to attract top-tier global technical talent, accelerate R&D and industrial implementation, and further solidify OXTIUM’s first-mover advantage in the “AI for BioScience” sector.
In recent years, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the life sciences has gradually become a core driver of global scientific research and industrial transformation. The projects honored with the 2024 Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, and Physiology or Medicine—covering the underlying logic of AI algorithms, protein structure prediction, and fundamental miRNA research—are highly aligned with OXTIUM’s core R&D directions. These advancements demonstrate that AI is profoundly reshaping the research paradigms of the life sciences. Since China released the New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan in 2017, multiple supportive policies have been introduced at both national and local levels, such as the Ministry of Science and Technology’s special initiative on “AI-Driven Scientific Research” and Shenzhen’s Action Plan for the Development of New Generation Artificial Intelligence (2019–2023). These policy supports have created a favorable development environment for innovative enterprises like OXTIUM. Located in the Shenzhen Tsinghua Information Port Park, a key hub for cross-disciplinary innovation between AI and life sciences in China, OXTIUM benefits from robust support for technological R&D and commercialization through specialized funds, science park resources, and optimized policies.
Dr. Jin Yongcheng, Founder and CEO of OXTIUM, stated, “We are currently at a critical juncture marked by the deep integration of AI and biological sciences, where every technological innovation has the potential to exert a profound impact on the industry. This special government funding not only recognizes the technological leadership of our GeneLLM™ pre-trained large language model but will also further accelerate the industrialization of the BioFord™ platform. We will leverage these funds to attract top-tier global technical talent and provide more innovative solutions for the field of biological sciences. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Shenzhen Municipal Government and all our partners for their strong support and trust in OXTIUM. We remain committed to fostering new quality productive forces, facilitating industrial upgrading, and contributing to the establishment of a globally leading hub for technological innovation.”
Since its inception, OXTIUM has remained committed to its core strategy of “AI + Bioscience: Dual-Core Driven Ecosystem Reconstruction,” actively responding to the national strategy for scientific and technological innovation. By deeply integrating AI with bioscience, OXTIUM has successfully addressed longstanding structural challenges in the field, such as high R&D costs, prolonged development cycles, and labor-intensive repetitive tasks. This breakthrough has injected critical momentum into China’s efforts to achieve technological advancement in the global life sciences landscape, helping the nation secure a leading position in biotechnology. Looking ahead, OXTIUM will continue to deepen ecological collaboration with top-tier medical institutions, research institutes, and industry partners, promoting the comprehensive integration of AI technologies across all scenarios in bioscience. By building an open, intelligent, and sustainable innovation ecosystem, OXTIUM aims to lead life science research toward a new paradigm characterized by data-driven insights and intelligent decision-making, thereby making greater contributions to national scientific and technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
OXTIUM is dedicated to providing one-stop AI-driven bioscience research solutions. Its independently developed multi-omics large model, GeneLLM™, has achieved pre-training with 1.5 billion parameters and 3.5 trillion base pair sequences. Leveraging GeneLLM™, OXTIUM has built BioFord™, a one-stop scientific service platform focused on six core scenarios: medical diagnostics, drug development, biomanufacturing, basic research, biological breeding, and environmental monitoring. The BioFord™ platform comprises nine life science model libraries: a multi-omics foundation model, a protein model, an RNA 3D structure prediction model, a biomedical text processing model, a biomedical image processing model, a chemistry foundation model, a CRISPR-related prediction model, a single-cell analysis model, and a time-series prediction model. It provides advanced “AI for BioScience” algorithm R&D, cloud platform services, and inference all-in-one machines to both research and industrial users. OXTIUM has served leading domestic institutions such as BGI Genomics, Baidu PaddlePaddle, the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Peking Union Medical College), Shanghai Children’s Medical Center affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.
OXTIUM has established R&D centers in Shenzhen and Beijing. Its founding team is led by four Oxford alumni and brings together top scientists and engineers in the fields of artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and bioengineering, having published more than 60 papers in prestigious journals such as *Nature* and *Nature Communications*.
Guided by the mission of “Exploring the Mysteries of Life with AI Technology,” OXTIUM will continue to push the technological boundaries of AI + bioscience, providing innovative momentum for biological research and industrial applications, and supporting national scientific innovation and industrial upgrading.
