Over 50 Innovative Projects Advance to Next Round in the First Asia-Pacific Digital Dentistry Innovation Challenge

Recently, the preliminary round of the inaugural Asia-Pacific Digital Oral Health Innovation Challenge officially concluded. Guided by the Rizhao Municipal People’s Government and hosted by the Administrative Committee of Rizhao High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, this competition is the first innovation contest in the Asia-Pacific region to focus specifically on the oral health industry. Since its official launch in November 2024, it has attracted enthusiastic participation from oral health enterprises, medical institutions, and research teams across China, receiving submissions spanning oral consumables and restorative materials, oral healthcare equipment, as well as digital platforms and service providers.Over 100 competing projects。

During the preliminary round, the Organizing Committee conducted a document review of eligible entries and organized expert judges to score the projects online. After rigorous screening, the final50+Truly innovative and market-potential dental projects stood out and successfully advanced to the semi-finals.

Project review experts stated: “The comprehensive development status of the projects is a key metric for this selection. The preliminary round evaluated multiple dimensions—including technical patent barriers, hospital partnerships, team completeness, quality of professional talent, and market prospects for the products—as the basis for initial screening.”

The conclusion of the preliminary round marks a phased achievement for the inaugural Asia-Pacific Digital Dentistry Innovation Challenge. On February 19–20, shortlisted projects will be divided into two categories—Early-Stage and Growth-Stage—to compete in the semi-finals, with further translation of innovative outcomes into practical applications anticipated. In the future, Rizhao City, as a hub for the digital dentistry industry, is poised to become a key source of global dental innovation.
