In February 2025, a leading domestic neurovascular interventional medical device companyKAI MEDTECH(hereinafter referred to as “KAI MEDTECH”) and dedicated to the research and development of embolization microspheresHangzhou Yangshun Medical Technology Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as “Yangshun Medical”) officially announced the establishment of a strategic partnership, under which both parties will engage in deep collaboration centered on the market promotion and clinical application of polyvinyl alcohol embolization microspheres (Registration Certificate No.: National Medical Device Registration 20243131005).

This collaboration aims to promote the clinical application of domestically produced high-end embolization consumables in the field of interventional oncology, thereby facilitating the innovative development of pan-vascular intervention technologies.

I. Strategic Alliance: Innovators Deepening Their Roots in Interventional Medicine

KAI MEDTECHFounded in 2019, the company entered the market through neurointerventional solutions, with a product pipeline covering devices for hemorrhagic conditions, ischemic conditions, and vascular access. It has gradually expanded into the field of peripheral vascular intervention. To date, the company holds 11 Class III medical device registration certificates. In 2025, it plans to launch multiple independently developed innovative products, including intracranial vascular stents, peripheral vascular interventional consumables and devices, and active medical devices, demonstrating its strategic layout from “neurovascular” to “pan-vascular” interventions.

Yangshun MedicalFocusing on the R&D of embolization microspheres, its polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) embolization microsphere project, launched in early 2021, has become a representative domestic embolization material thanks to technological breakthroughs and process optimization. The product recently won the bid in the centralized procurement project for peripheral vascular interventional medical consumables led by Gansu Province, indicating broad market prospects.

1. High-Efficiency Drug Loading and Precise Controlled Release:Rapid loading of positively charged anticancer drugs, such as doxorubicin, can be completed within 10 minutes, enabling broad-spectrum drug incorporation; sustained release at the tumor target site maintains effective drug concentrations and enhances therapeutic efficacy.

2. Superior Physical Properties:The microspheres feature a smooth surface, uniform particle size, and excellent biocompatibility. They conform closely to blood vessels, meeting the requirements for gradient and precise embolization. Capable of being compressed by 80% without fragmentation, they ensure smooth injection and prevent catheter blockage, thereby significantly enhancing procedural safety.

3. Comprehensive Specifications for Clinical Adaptability:Covers a wide range of particle sizes to accommodate varying vessel diameters, providing personalized solutions for Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE).

III. Strategic Significance: Advancing Domestic Substitution and Clinical Accessibility

This collaboration not only integrates KAI MEDTECH’s channel resources in the field of vascular intervention with the technological advantages of Hangzhou Yangshun Medical Technology Co., Ltd., but also aligns with national centralized volume-based procurement policies that support cost-effective, domestically produced medical consumables. The successful bid for polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) embolic microspheres in the centralized procurement program marks dual recognition of their clinical value and cost-effectiveness, paving the way for accelerated substitution of high-priced alternatives and reduced financial burden on patients.

Liu An, Founder and CEO of KAI MEDTECH, stated:“The pan-vascular intervention market holds immense potential, particularly in the field of oncology treatment, where there is an urgent demand for precise and functional consumables. This collaboration will strengthen our footprint in the peripheral and tumor intervention consumables sectors. In the future, we plan to develop more combination therapies centered on embolic microspheres, such as creating a ‘precision therapy ecosystem’ that integrates drug-eluting microspheres with targeted devices.”

PAN JIE, Ph.D., a returnee from Singapore and CTO of Yangshun Medical, stated:“Embolic microspheres hold immense application potential across multiple indications, including liver cancer, lung cancer, osteoarthritis, and uterine fibroids. Through years of dedicated research in collaboration with academic institutions and clinical experts, we are now finally able to serve a broad patient population on a large scale, which has filled all employees at Yangshun with great excitement. This partnership will facilitate Yangshun’s market introduction of its high-quality products, effectively promote the clinical adoption of innovative embolization devices, ensure continuous service to patients, and enhance our collaborative innovation capabilities. We remain committed to striving to become a leading provider of comprehensive medical embolization solutions in the industry.”

IV. Future Vision: Building a New Universe of Pan-Vascular Interventional Therapy

Through this collaboration, KAI MEDTECH will leverage its existing product platforms and channel resources, building on current partnerships to drive the nationwide adoption of embolic microspheres in hospitals across China. Meanwhile, KAI MEDTECH will also expand its portfolio of high-end vascular interventional consumables, capitalizing on its strengths in business development and the introduction of advanced global technologies. The company aims to create a comprehensive, full-cycle solution for pan-vascular interventions—covering diagnosis, treatment, and post-operative management—and to propel Chinese interventional medicine onto the international stage.
