As the first benchmark competition in the Asia-Pacific region dedicated to digital dentistry innovation, the inaugural Digital Dentistry Innovation Challenge brought together cutting-edge innovative forces from the industry. Under the guidance of the Rizhao Municipal Committee and Municipal People’s Government, and with meticulous planning by the Administrative Committee of Rizhao High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, the competition invited authoritative experts—including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, leading universities, top-tier Grade A tertiary hospitals, and prominent investment institutions—to form a professional judging panel, garnering widespread attention from all sectors of the industry.
After rigorous screening and stringent evaluation, 26 high-potential, innovative projects stood out and successfully advanced to the finals. These selected projects not only demonstrate the vibrant vitality and broad prospects of the digital dentistry industry but also represent the cutting-edge innovation strategies within China’s digital dentistry sector. In the coming period, we will sequentially feature these outstanding entrepreneurial ventures and innovative teams, helping stakeholders keep pace with the pulse of industry innovation.

Tianjin Weichixin Biotechnology Co., Ltd.(hereinafter referred to as“MicroDent Care,” as a technology enterprise integrating R&D, manufacturing, and services, centers its strategy on “digital empowerment of dental clinic services,” building a comprehensive ecosystem that combines hardware and software development, clinical practice, and innovative services.
Driven by deep insights into industry pain points, the company has precisely identified three core challenges: traditional standardized equipment struggles to accommodate personalized medical needs; conventional metal orthodontic solutions face technical bottlenecks in aesthetics and treatment outcome prediction; and there remains a significant market gap for end-to-end digital solutions in the dental healthcare industry.

To address the challenge of clinical personalization, where each patient’s gingival contour and implant depth are unique, the company has launched a customized abutment service leveraging its digital design capabilities. Through precise digital design, this service overcomes the limitations of traditional abutments in matching gingival morphology. This strategic innovation aligns with global trends in the dental implant abutment market. According to company data, the global market for dental implant abutments is projected to exceed $30 billion by 2028, with restorations such as crowns and bridges accounting for the majority share. In terms of orthodontic technological innovation, the team has integrated advantages in both materials science and digital technology to successfully develop a new type of food-grade silicone clear aligner, which significantly enhances aesthetics and ease of use while maintaining effective corrective force.
Notably, the company’s technological innovation system is underpinned by its independently developed digital platform, establishing a comprehensive hardware-software synergistic ecosystem. Its mobile scanning system integrates dynamic tooth recognition and predictive outcome assessment, effectively combining enhanced clinical efficiency with improved patient acquisition capabilities for dental clinics. The orthodontic software system delivers key functionalities such as automated tooth alignment and segmentation, as well as attachment placement, and intelligently interfaces with cephalometric CT data, thereby establishing a precise digital diagnosis and treatment workflow.

Furthermore, Weichi Xin has established a departmental co-construction base at the Beijing Military Medical Association, creating a virtuous cycle of “clinical feedback–technological iteration–product upgrading” for its technical architecture, thereby forming a strategic layout integrating clinical practice, R&D, and channel partnerships.
Weichi Xin’s core competitiveness stems from its cross-disciplinary professional team and innovative operational model. The founding team combines expertise in dental medicine with clinic management experience, establishing a three-dimensional operational system covering R&D, production, and services, enabling the company to accurately capture market demands. Led by a postdoctoral fellow in dental implantology from Capital Medical University, the core team collaborates closely with cross-disciplinary professionals such as computer graphics algorithm experts and AI engineers. This synergy ensures that technological development aligns closely with clinical needs, providing strong support for the company’s continuous innovation.
Looking ahead, Weichixin has formulated a clear development strategy. The company plans to leverage RMB 5 million in strategic financing to focus on advancing three key areas: strengthening the technical barriers of its facial tracking and tooth recognition systems to further enhance patient acquisition capabilities for clinics; accelerating the acquisition of Class II and Class III medical device manufacturing qualifications to pave the way for scaled-up production; and continuously upgrading its dental hardware and software systems while deepening its layout in the 3D printing and personalized customization industry chain. Furthermore, the company intends to integrate resources from upstream and downstream partners to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem platform for dentistry, driving end-to-end digital transformation in core sectors such as dental implants and orthodontics.

Against the backdrop of accelerating digital transformation in the dental healthcare industry, Weichixin is building a robust industry “moat” by leveraging its technological innovation capabilities, comprehensive industrial chain layout, and professional team strength. As Weichixin continues to optimize its digital solutions and refine its industrial ecosystem, the company is poised to become a key driver of digital upgrading in China’s dental healthcare sector.
As implant placement errors are measured in microns and orthodontic trajectories are driven by algorithms, oral diagnosis and treatment have quietly entered a new era of “chip-level” precision. From the millimeter-level customization of personalized surgical guides for implants to the digital modeling of biomechanics and aesthetics in clear aligner therapy, the essence of Weichixin’s innovation lies in transforming clinical procedures into computable, predictable, and customizable data streams. Its value extends beyond merely replacing traditional manual paradigms; it fundamentally reconstructs the interaction logic among “patients and clinicians–devices–treatment outcomes” through a closed-loop data system.
It is worth pondering that as 3D printing, dynamic recognition, and AI-driven prediction become the new infrastructure of the industry, those who control the discourse over the underlying technical architecture will be able to define future standards in a market worth hundreds of billions. However, as diagnostic and treatment processes are deconstructed into standardized data modules, will the competitiveness of medical institutions shift from physicians’ accumulated experience to their capability in maintaining and operating digital foundations? The practice of Weichixin may suggest that in the next decade, the decisive battlefield in dental healthcare will not be beside the dental chair, but within the digital foundation built by every line of code.
