From March 26 to March 28, 2025, the 6th Clinic Expo and the Beautiful Primary Healthcare Ecosystem Cooperation Conference was held at the Wuzhouqing Convention and Exhibition Center in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The conference was jointly organized by Zhen Suo Jie (Clinic Lock Circle) and the Shenzhen Community Health Association. Multiple sub-forums were co-hosted by Zhen Suo Jie, Zhen Suo Academy, Xunshang Medical, Changji Medical, Renrenhe Pharmacy Clinic, Qinyuanchun Traditional Chinese Medicine Group, Gongxiutang, and Yiqibo. Huang Youjing, Deputy Director of the Chengdu Municipal Health Commission; Mao Yan, Deputy Director of the Talent Services Department of the China Non-Public Medical Institutions Association (commissioned by Professor Hao Deming, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Association); Chen Yuanqing, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Shenzhen Community Health Association and former Party Secretary of the Headquarters of Shenzhen Nanshan District Medical Group; and Gao Zhe, Founder of Zhen Suo Jie, delivered speeches at the conference. Nearly 5,000 professionals from the primary healthcare industry and sector across China attended the event, while the live streaming platforms attracted a cumulative audience of nearly 100,000 viewers.

The Conference was held closely around the theme of “Emergence: Meeting the Surge in Health Demand and Driving New Growth Through Customer Value.” Emergence refers to the phenomenon where, amidst drastic changes, a collective exhibits new, unpredictable properties that individual components do not possess when simple individuals interact to form a group. Currently, against the backdrop of accelerating social transformation, an aging population with fewer children, and the deepening of healthcare reforms, people’s health needs are quietly evolving, and the medical system is undergoing significant turbulence and change. Only by firmly grasping customer needs, continuously evolving and changing around the core of customer value, and collaborating with industry peers to weather challenges together can we navigate the “Cambrian period” of primary healthcare and witness its emergence!

Huang Youjing, Deputy Director of the Chengdu Municipal Health Commission, attended the conference and delivered a speech. She stated that ZhenSuoJie has undertaken an initiative that aligns perfectly with the needs of the current era by aggregating various resources from the primary healthcare industry and sector into a single platform. This effort aims to promote the development of clinics and, in the future, foster an ecological industrial chain. She believes that in the field of health, the “total material volume” should represent the sum of perfect health for every individual and across the entire life cycle, leaving substantial room for innovation and development. Not only are many current health needs unmet, but numerous other demands have yet to be stimulated, presenting opportunities for industry colleagues to work together. She hopes that professionals in the primary healthcare sector will take this conference as an opportunity to jointly reflect on “what to do and how to do it,” thereby elevating the primary healthcare industry to a higher level.

Mao Yan, Deputy Director of the Talent and Technical Services Department of the Chinese Non-Government Medical Institutions Association (CNGMIA), delivered a speech on behalf of Professor Hao Deming, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the Association. In her address, Ms. Mao spoke highly of the Clinic Expo organized by Zhen Suo Jie. Citing policies released in recent years, she noted that the Party and the government have continuously supported and standardized the development of primary healthcare institutions. Currently, more than 500,000 non-public medical institutions have become an indispensable component of the healthcare service system, playing an increasingly critical role in meeting the diverse and multi-level healthcare needs of the public. She introduced the basic profile of CNGMIA, highlighting that the Association has established the “Internet + Medical Association Consortium” cloud platform, striving to serve as a bridge and link between the government and its members, and making unremitting efforts to foster a favorable environment for socially-run medical practices. She concluded by wishing all attendees inspiration through the exchange of ideas and collaboration, working together to usher in a new chapter of high-quality development in primary healthcare.

Chen Yuanqing, Representative of the Joint Organizers, Supervisor of the Shenzhen Community Health Association, and Former Party Secretary of the Headquarters of Shenzhen Nanshan District Medical Group, delivered a speech at the conference. She introduced the achievements made by Shenzhen’s primary healthcare sector in recent years and provided an overview of the Association. In recent years, primary healthcare institutions have achieved rapid development in both quantity and quality. Since 1995, the coverage rate of community health services in Shenzhen has reached 72%, far exceeding that of some developed countries nationwide. The Shenzhen Community Health Service Association has always remained at the forefront of the primary healthcare field, making significant and effective contributions to promoting and standardizing the development of primary healthcare in Shenzhen. She expressed her hope that, in the future, the Association will join hands with Zhen Suo Jie (Clinic Chain Circle), Zhen Bo Hui (Clinic Expo), and colleagues from primary healthcare institutions across China to contribute more to the development of primary healthcare nationwide, to foster better primary care, and to support the construction of a Healthy China.

Shen Yun, Global Partner of Fosun International and Co-President of Fosun Health, delivered a presentation titled “Synergy Between Healthcare and Insurance: Empowering High-Quality Development of Medical Institutions.” He analyzed the current challenges and opportunities facing non-public medical institutions from a payer perspective. Due to mounting pressure on the basic medical insurance fund, strengthened regulatory oversight, widespread adoption of DRG/DIP payment reforms, and anti-corruption initiatives in the pharmaceutical sector, the payer landscape is gradually transitioning from a single-payer system dominated by basic medical insurance to a multi-payer model that integrates basic medical insurance, commercial health insurance, and out-of-pocket payments. To effectively engage with commercial health insurers, medical institutions need to undertake certain modifications to their service workflows, care environments, pricing models, and even product design. Shen shared Fosun Health’s practical experiences and explorations in fostering healthcare-insurance synergy and proposed development strategies for the coordinated growth of basic medical insurance and commercial health insurance.

Mr. Cao Hu, Global Partner of the Kotler Group and CEO for Greater China and Singapore, delivered a keynote speech titled “Marketing Growth Pathways for Excellent Healthcare Service Enterprises.” He argued that healthcare institutions need to identify future opportunities by examining three dimensions: Opportunities, Trends, and Forces (the OTF Triangle). Healthcare organizations should center their marketing improvements on health value. The essence of marketing lies in authentic, person-to-person engagement—characterized by honesty, absence of deception or misleading practices, and delivery of high cost-performance ratio. Ultimately, providing the health value that customers truly prioritize constitutes the fundamental basis for the long-term sustainability of clinics.

Liang Guangkai, Chief Healthcare Analyst at China Merchants Securities, delivered a presentation titled “Sustaining Value, Advancing Steadily: Analysis of Healthcare Service Investment, Financing, and Industry Trends in the New Normal.” From a capital market perspective, he shared his research framework and core insights across five dimensions, including end-state business models in healthcare services and the key drivers shaping market performance at various industry stages. He believes that, over the long term, AI holds promise for driving industry development by uncovering incremental data to reduce costs and enhance efficiency, while also empowering primary care.

He introduced Innovent Biologics’ corporate profile and highlighted mazdutide, a flagship weight-loss product scheduled for launch in June. He expressed his hope that Innovent Biologics would collaborate with ecosystem partners such as ZhenSuoJie to jointly empower and establish the China Primary Care Weight Loss Alliance.

Yang Quanzhu, Chairman of Renrenhe Medicine and Clinic, delivered a presentation titled “Core Reflections and Actions on the Strategic Shift from ‘Pharmacy-Clinic’ to ‘Medicine-Clinic.’” He shared his journey in pioneering the integrated pharmacy-plus-clinic business model. He noted that pharmacies currently face challenges such as medical insurance cost containment and stringent regulations on prescription drugs, whereas medicine-clinics offer numerous advantages. He also shared Renrenhe’s experience in strategic positioning, operational management, and standardized medical marketing. He argued that diversification alone cannot resolve the challenges facing pharmacies; attempting to solve pharmacy-related issues solely within the traditional pharmacy framework is ineffective, and it is essential to break free from conventional pharmacy mindsets.

Michiko Miyake, Supervisor of the Japan Medical Reporters Association and Visiting Associate Professor at Fujita Health University, delivered a keynote address titled “Evolution and Implications of Private and Primary Care Institutions in Japan’s Healthcare Reforms Over the Past Three Decades.” She systematically reviewed the establishment and refinement of Japan’s healthcare security system across different developmental stages, as well as the challenges posed by an aging society with a declining birthrate and the gradual development and improvement of Japan’s integrated medical, elderly care, and rehabilitation system. She introduced Japan’s current, well-established medical-elderly care system and shared case studies.

Xujang Medicine, together with Anhui’s Xin’an Medicine, Jiangsu’s Menghe Medicine, and Guangdong’s Lingnan Medicine, is recognized as one of the four major regional schools of traditional Chinese medicine in ancient China. The Xujang medical school emerged during the Han and Tang dynasties, developed through the Song and Yuan dynasties, and flourished in the Ming and Qing dynasties, spanning over 2,000 years. This millennia-old tradition profoundly embodies the principle of “unity between heaven and humanity,” inheriting the dialectical essence of the Huangdi Neijing (The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon) while integrating Daoist concepts of health preservation. Its external therapies are particularly robust, resonating in tandem with the history of Chinese medicine, and its academic thought remains an integral component of the traditional Chinese medicine system to this day.

To advance TCM diagnosis and treatment as well as the broader TCM health sector, and to operate TCM clinics effectively, technology remains the cornerstone. What technologies are most critical today? For internal medicine diagnostic assistance, AI is likely the key driving technology. For external therapies, the crucial technologies are those that uphold heritage while promoting integration, adhering to traditional principles while fostering innovation.
