Intelligent Elderly Care Robot Product Developer
VCBeat has learned that Shanghai DeYin Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “DeYin”) recently announced the completion of its tens-of-millions-yuan angel financing round. The round was led by an industrial fund under Nanjing Xinbai, a listed company, and followed by Xiangjia Health, a leading domestic provider of health services for the elderly, as well as a well-known private rehabilitation and nursing care medical group.
This round of financing will be primarily used to scale up production and expand the market for DeYin’s products, including intelligent care robots for bowel and bladder management, autonomous wheelchairs, and AI companion robots, thereby further consolidating the company’s leading position in the elderly care robotics sector.
China's demand for elderly care robots has become increasingly urgent, yet the industry as a whole remains in its nascent stages.
As of the end of 2023, China had more than 46 million elderly individuals with partial or total disabilities. Meanwhile, there were only about 8.23 million nursing home beds available in the country. This implies that the majority of disabled and semi-disabled seniors are cared for by family members on a one-on-one basis, resulting in extremely low efficiency. Furthermore, as a nation where English is not the primary language and which maintains relatively strict immigration policies, China finds it difficult to follow the example of European and American countries by large-scale introduction of immigrants from developing nations to provide elder care. Against this backdrop, there is a strong societal demand for products that can enhance the efficiency of elderly care.
Nevertheless, over the past few years, due to factors such as policy implementation, channel development, and the maturity of the industrial chain, few teams with backgrounds in robotics or smart hardware have been willing to enter the elderly care sector to address the aforementioned issues. This has resulted in China’s elderly care robot industry remaining at a very nascent stage, with few products available that can effectively improve the efficiency of care for disabled and semi-disabled older adults.
DeYin, established in July 2022 and headquartered in Shanghai, is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research and development of intelligent elderly care robots. Guided by its mission to “enable care recipients to live happily and with dignity, provide peace of mind to family members, and ensure dignified working conditions for caregivers,” the company is committed to upgrading and transforming traditional elderly care products through artificial intelligence and robotics technologies. It aims to deliver intelligent, data-driven, and personalized comfortable care experiences for individuals requiring assistance, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and patients with severe illnesses.
The company’s core team comprises top-tier talent from JD Logistics’ robotics division, Midea’s service robotics division, Ecovacs, Huazhu Group, and leading universities, specializing in algorithms and related fields. In collaboration with the Institute of Machine Intelligence at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, the company has established a joint laboratory to jointly explore the practical application of artificial intelligence and robotics technologies in the elderly care industry.
The company has officially launched three elderly care robot products, offering intelligent solutions tailored to address toileting care, mobility, and loneliness and safety concerns among different elderly populations. Its product development is significantly ahead of competitors. Among these, the Intelligent Toileting Care Robot and the Autonomous Wheelchair Robot have undergone testing at renowned large-scale nursing homes for over 1.5 years, securing multiple letters of intent from B-side elderly care institutions and strategic industry partners, and have now entered mass production. The AI Companion Robot has entered substantive testing and iteration phases, with mass production expected to begin by the end of 2025.
In the future, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence and robotics technologies, along with a deep understanding of the elderly care industry, the company will launch more elderly care robot products designed to enhance the efficiency and experience of eldercare.
