Mr. Yang Bin, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone
Yang Bin, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development ZoneIt was stated that, as a benchmark project for the emerging health industry in Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone (YETDZ), Ruilong Surgery has not only enriched the industrial ecosystem but also laid a solid foundation for the development of the emerging health industry cluster, thereby elevating the stature of Yangzhou’s medical equipment industry. It is believed that, under the leadership of leading enterprises such as Ruilong Surgery and supported by key resources including policy, capital, and talent, YETDZ will cultivate more hard-tech companies and foster industrial agglomeration effects.
Following the speeches, the delegation of leaders and experts conducted an on-site tour of the core functional areas at Ruilong Surgery’s global production base. During the visit, they gained in-depth insights into Ruilong Surgery’s development history and observed the Haishan I®The Iteration Process of Laparoscopic Robots and the Layout and Technological Flow of Their Production Lines.

Since its inception, Ruilong Surgery has rejected the path of imitation, adhering to the philosophy that “innovation need not begin with imitation” and consistently pursuing an independent development strategy driven by clinical value. To sustain this innovative DNA, the company has integrated production, clinical research, and training into a unified framework during its scale-up manufacturing phase, closely linking these functions with its supply chain, quality systems, and after-sales technical services. Through the vertical synergy of its three major centers, Ruilong has established a closed-loop development model characterized by “clinical needs driving R&D, and R&D feeding back into clinical innovation.” The simultaneous launch of its Clinical Research Center and Training Center alongside its global production base in Yangzhou represents a concrete implementation of the company’s core operational and innovative philosophies.
Global Production Bases: The Core Carrier of Intelligent Manufacturing and Industrialization
As the first mass production base for modular surgical robots in China, Ruilong Surgical’s global manufacturing facility leverages the collaborative advantages of the Yangtze River Delta medical device industry cluster. By deeply integrating Yangzhou’s precision manufacturing capabilities with Industry 4.0 intelligent technologies, it has established a fully autonomous and controllable smart manufacturing system spanning from core component production to complete unit integration. This production base not only achieves full-process localized manufacturing of core components such as modular carts, robotic arms, and disposable consumables, but also significantly reduces the manufacturing cost per surgical robot through standardized assembly, precise inspection, and large-scale production.
Clinical Research Center: A Hub for Medical-Engineering Collaborative Innovation and Clinical Translation
As a multidisciplinary research hub for modular laparoscopic surgical robots, the center will undertake clinical studies related to these systems. It will subsequently expand its collaborative scope to include expert consensus statements and other clinical research projects in specialties such as urology, gastrointestinal surgery, colorectal surgery, and gynecology. Furthermore, the center will establish synergy with the RISE International Clinical Excellence Center in the United States to jointly tackle technical challenges, simultaneously explore new clinical scenarios involving complex surgical procedures, and continuously unlock the application potential of modular robotic systems in the field of precision medicine.
Training Center: Bidirectional Empowerment of Medicine and Engineering Drives Procedural Innovation and Dissemination
According to Mao Ying, CTO and COO of Ruilong Surgery, the role of the Clinical Training Center is mainly reflected in four aspects: first, helping doctors from different backgrounds quickly understand and master the operation methods of the split modular surgical robot, allowing Haishan Yi®to be utilized in a better, safer, and more effective manner; second, through close collaboration with clinicians, to explore Haishan Yi®It is widely applied across multiple specialties and various surgical procedures; third, it promotes the integration of medicine and engineering. The training center is located adjacent to the production base to enable physicians to understand the entire process of medical device development from design to manufacturing, as well as to recognize the feasibility of engineering implementation and technological processes; fourth, it facilitates immediate feedback and improvement, allowing physicians to directly translate new ideas into production practices, thereby ensuring the feasibility and effectiveness of innovations.
As the opening ceremony drew to a close, Ruilong Surgery and the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. This partnership marks a joint effort by both parties to advance the clinical application and technological innovation of surgical robots.

Both parties will collaborate based on Haishan Yi, China’s first domestically developed split modular surgical robot independently created by Ruilong.®Leveraging the clinical research strengths of the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University and based on preferential procurement, we will engage in deep industry-academia-research-application collaboration, including joint clinical trials, innovative device development, grant applications, and functional iterations. Together, we aim to build an outstanding domestic robotic surgical platform with fully independent intellectual property rights, comprehensively promoting the exploration and practice of HaiShan-Yi® in minimally invasive treatment of malignant tumors in urology, general surgery, gynecology, and thoracic surgery.
Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University, established in 1960, is a directly affiliated hospital of Yangzhou University and a jointly constructed institution by the Provincial Department of Education and the Provincial Health Commission. It has now developed into a comprehensive Grade A tertiary hospital integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, emergency services, prevention, and rehabilitation.

Mr. Yin Xudong, President of the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University
Yin Xudong, President of the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University, stated that Ruilong Surgery, as the first domestic enterprise to independently develop and mass-produce modular laparoscopic surgical robots, has broken international monopolies and provided frontline clinical practitioners with more ergonomic and precise surgical tools. The Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University looks forward to deepening its cooperation with Ruilong Surgery to jointly promote the clinical application of surgical robots in specialized fields such as hepatobiliary, gastrointestinal, gynecological, thoracic, and urological surgery. By accumulating real-world data and optimizing operational procedures, the hospital aims to enhance surgical quality and better serve patients. Furthermore, the hospital intends to leverage Ruilong Surgery’s training center platform to establish a talent development system integrating medicine and engineering. The hospital will select key physicians to participate in standardized operational training and invite technical experts from the enterprise to engage with frontline clinical staff through specialized seminars. This initiative seeks to cultivate interdisciplinary professionals who possess both a deep understanding of clinical needs and proficiency in equipment operation, thereby building a high-level robotic surgery team for Yangzhou and the surrounding regions.
The ultimate goal of medical innovation is to benefit patients. The clinical application of Ruilong Surgical Robots represents not only a breakthrough in equipment and technology but also a bridge connecting enterprises with healthcare institutions and integrating industry, academia, and research. The Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University will establish a long-term cooperative mechanism with Ruilong Surgery in areas such as clinical research, talent development, and promotion, thereby ensuring that high-end domestically produced medical equipment is truly effective, accessible, and affordable.
