Innovative biotechnology company Nuevocor announced today the successful completion of a $45 million Series B financing round. The company is dedicated to developing curative therapies for cardiomyopathies caused by mechanobiological abnormalities.

This round of financing was jointly invested by Kurma Partners, Angelini Ventures, and HLC, with existing shareholders including Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund (BIVF), EDBI, and ClavystBio continuing their investment.

The new financing will support the first open-label, multicenter, single-ascending-dose Phase I/II clinical trial of NYC-001 in patients with LMNA-related dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), spanning multiple clinical research centers across the United States and Europe. Additionally, the company will establish an office in Europe to support global clinical development and bring innovative therapies from Asia to patients worldwide.

LMNA DCM is a hereditary heart disease caused by mutations in the LMNA gene, which can lead to weakening and enlargement of the heart muscle, rapidly progressing to end-stage heart failure. It is estimated that more than 100,000 patients in the United States and Europe are affected by this condition. NYC-001 and other pipeline products are all developed based on Nuevocor’s proprietary PrOSIA™ mechanobiology platform, which targets the functional root causes of various cardiomyopathies.

Dr. Yann Chong Tan, CEO and Co-Founder of Nuevocorstated, “We are delighted to partner with experienced international life sciences investors to achieve this significant financing milestone. The continued support from existing investors, combined with the participation of new investors, will help Nuevocor maintain its strong momentum and advance NYC-001 into the clinical stage. This demonstrates how Singapore is exporting transformative innovation to the world.”
