VCBeat has learned that, recently, the leading enterprise in microsurgical roboticsGuangzhou DeepSurgery Medical Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “DeepSurgery”)) announced the completion of a tens-of-millions-yuan Pre-A financing round, led byWondfo Innovation ValleyLead Investor. This round of financing reflects the sustained attention of industrial capital to the field of microsurgical robotics, as well as its high recognition of DeepSurgery’s technological uniqueness and team execution capabilities. Following this round of financing, DeepSurgery will further accelerate its clinical development, regulatory approvals, and market expansion both domestically and internationally, empowered by Wondfo’s industrial resources.Qiangyun CapitalServed as the exclusive financial advisor for DeepSurgery's current round of financing.

DeepSurgery is a founding member of the Chinese Association of Microsurgery, committed to developing intelligent devices that cover all surgical procedures under the microscope. DeepSurgery’s flagship product, the FUNZAR microsurgical robot (hereinafter referred to as “FUNZAR”), was listed as one of the eight major advances in the field of microsurgery in China in 2024.The product entered clinical validation in late 2024.FUNZAR features a dual-arm 16-degree-of-freedom robotic manipulator, a 60x 4K ultra-high-definition 3D digital visual navigation system, modular combination technology, and sub-micron spatial positioning master-slave control technology.

In December 2024, FUNZAR completed its first human clinical trial of a microsurgical robot. In February 2025, FUNZAR successfully performed the first robot-assisted end-to-end anastomosis of deep cervical lymphatic veins for Alzheimer’s disease. As of March 2025, FUNZAR has completed five first-in-human (FIH) trials involving the hands, feet, and head and neck; covering lymphatic, venous, and arterial systems; and utilizing both standard open microsurgery and deep microsurgery techniques. These clinical trials have demonstrated the feasibility of FUNZAR in microsurgical procedures. Currently, the registered clinical trials for FUNZAR are progressing steadily.

Dr. Xia Jun, Chairman & Founder of DeepSurgeryIt is widely acknowledged that microsurgery is the most physically demanding and intricate type of surgical procedure. Surgeons are required to maintain a stooped posture with their heads bent for consecutive hours while performing delicate maneuvers under high-magnification microscopes, creating an imperative need for robotic assistance. DeepSurgery’s FUNZAR system incorporates internationally leading, proprietary patented technologies, achieving technological breakthroughs such as submicron-level control algorithms and a multi-degree-of-freedom MRCM structure with full-field coverage. These advancements overcome the current technical limitations of microsurgical robots and expand the scope of their practical applications. Having successfully completed First-in-Human (FIH) clinical feasibility studies, FUNZAR has gained recognition from industry experts both domestically and internationally, and its Class III NMPA registration clinical trials are progressing smoothly. We believe that FUNZAR will become the world’s first intelligent robotic system capable of performing comprehensive microsurgical procedures under the microscope.

Lead Investor of This RoundMr. She Jin, Head of Wondfo Chuanggu InvestmentIt was stated that the DeepSurgery team has achieved significant breakthroughs in core technologies such as high-precision motion control and high-magnification scaling. The adaptability of its products to microsurgical scenarios has been validated through several preliminary clinical trials. We recognize the technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit of the DeepSurgery team, and firmly believe that DeepSurgery’s intelligent solutions will redefine the standards of microsurgical procedures.

Exclusive Financial AdvisorMs. Yan Guopei, Head of the Northern Region at Qiangyun CapitalDeepSurgery noted: DeepSurgery was impressed in several aspects, including meticulous control over product details, the team’s operational efficiency, and comprehensive patent portfolio, all of which strongly safeguard the company’s leadership position within the field. Furthermore, microsurgery is indeed one of the most promising areas for surgical robots at present, with a wide range of surgical applications spanning multiple departments; currently, Symani is the only system available globally.®(FDA) and MUSA (CE) approved, with the domestic market largely untapped.
