VCBeat has learned that ChromX Health recently successfully completed its Pre-A III round of financing, which was exclusively strategically invested by Guangzhou Digital Technology Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd. (“Shuke Chantou”).The proceeds from this round of financing will be primarily used to further expand the production capacity, commercialization layout, and application promotion of Micro Gas Chromatographs (Micro GC), while also supporting the continued advancement of existing clinical pipelines, the development of new pipelines, and the research and development of new breath analysis products.


The closing of this financing round marks the successful completion of ChromX Health’s Pre-A funding. 1) In August 2024, ChromX Health’s Breath Sequencer Alpha, a micro gas chromatography breath analyzer, received approval.China’s First Class II Innovative Medical Device Registration Certificate for the Breath Testing IndustryIt is also the world’s first breath analysis product based on gas chromatography technology. Its core performance parameters for detecting volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath, including accuracy, stability, and sensitivity, have been clinically validated to rival those of traditional gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) platforms dedicated to R&D in central laboratories. 2) In early 2024, the Company and the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University (National Center for Respiratory Medicine) launchedExhaled VOC Detection in Multiple Pulmonary Diseases,Particularly, multicenter, large-sample cohort studies on diseases such as lung cancer and pulmonary nodules have been completed.Cohort Study with 15,000+ Samples. The research findings have garnered widespread international attention and recognition.


In March 2025, at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC), the collaborative research by ChromX Health and the team led by Dr. He Jianxing, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, on using exhaled volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to differentiate between benign and malignant pulmonary nodules received high acclaim from the conference. In recognition of the innovation and practicality of this work, it was awarded the Conference Merit Travel Award.


At the 2025 European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) Annual Meeting held in May, ChromX Health and President He Jianxing’s team were honored with the ESTS-AATS Foundation Excellence Award for their work on exhaled volatile organic compound (VOC)-based lung cancer diagnosis. This award, the sole joint distinction established by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS), was the only project recognized across all lung cancer subspecialty sessions at ESTS 2025. This achievement underscores the high level of international peer recognition and affirmation for the exhaled VOC detection technology jointly developed by ChromX Health and President He Jianxing’s team, marking China’s progressive transition from “following” to “leading” in the field of non-invasive early screening for lung cancer.

3)In 2024, the company’s products were exported to the United States.ChromX Health has adopted “MEMS + AI” as its core technological pathway. Through continuous innovation, the company has achieved a significant global lead in MEMS technologies related to the capture, separation, and detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath. Its comprehensive performance has been recognized and certified by SGS, an internationally authoritative third-party testing institution. 4) 2024-2025, the companyLaunch Multiple “10,000-Case Breath Test for Lung Cancer Screening” Projects, aiming to provide a disruptive innovation solution for early-stage lung cancer screening by leveraging the precise, non-invasive, rapid, and simple characteristics of breath testing. Through more accurate analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in exhaled breath, it further improves screening accuracy while reducing the harm caused by CT radiation in lung cancer screening. In a cohort study on early-stage lung cancer screening, the breath VOC detection product developed by ChromX Health and the team led by Dean He Jianxing,The AUC for internal validation reached 0.9, successfully identifying 80% of lung cancer cases in real-world screening practice involving 2,055 subjects.


The product’s outstanding performance has been highly commended by Professor He Jianxing, Director of the National Center for Respiratory Medicine: “Exhaled breath testing is simple and rapid to perform, making it well-suited for widespread adoption at primary care levels. Taking the ‘Lung Health Initiative’ in Liwan District, Guangzhou, as an example, using exhaled VOC testing as a preliminary screening tool to identify individuals at high risk for lung cancer can substantially reduce unnecessary CT screenings.” In light of China’s 150 million individuals with pulmonary nodules, this technology offers a multidimensional, advantageous solution for differentiating benign from malignant nodules and for early lung cancer screening.


Dr. Liang Hengrui from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University pointed out, “Detection based on exhaled volatile organic compounds (VOCs) offers unique advantages, such as high accuracy, absence of radiation, repeatability within a short timeframe, rapid result turnaround, and cost-effectiveness, making it one of the preferred tools for early screening and follow-up of chronic respiratory diseases like early-stage lung cancer.” These breakthroughs in the initial application (0-to-1) at the screening stage have enabled ChromX Health and top domestic expert teams to continuously advance the formation of expert consensus and industry standards for exhaled VOC detection. This effort is grounded in a framework of “scientific breakthrough–clinical validation–application demonstration–large-scale promotion” and supported by large-sample, multicenter, multidimensional data.
