On July 25, the Zhongguancun (Haidian) Bio-Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park (Zone B) (formerly known as Haixing Pharmaceutical and Health Innovation Park Zone B) will officially open. As one of Beijing’s “Three 100” Key Projects for 2024, the completion of this project not only reshapes the industrial landscape of the Northern Zone of Zhongguancun Science City, but also directly addresses the pain point in Haidian’s pharmaceutical and health industry characterized by “advanced R&D coupled with outsourced production,” thereby injecting robust new-quality productive forces into regional development.

According to reports, the industrial park has precisely targeted the lifeblood of industrial upgrading, focusing its core efforts on three frontier fields: innovative drug R&D, high-end medical devices, and cell and gene therapy (CGT). Leveraging the intellectual “rich vein” of top-tier universities and research institutions in Haidian District, the park has meticulously built a full-lifecycle industrial ecosystem covering “R&D office space, pilot-scale verification, CDMO/CMO services, and intelligent manufacturing,” thereby becoming a strategic fulcrum for driving the upgrade of the biopharmaceutical industry in Beijing and across China.

Spanning a land area of 33,400 square meters with a total gross floor area of approximately 60,000 square meters, the park features five biopharmaceutical manufacturing buildings (including three semi-detached and two standalone structures) and one service support building. Its spatial design is deeply attuned to the core needs of the industry: both the first and second floors boast ultra-high ceilings of 6 meters and flooring with super-high load-bearing capacity, providing a solid foundation for the installation of heavy equipment and flexible space partitioning by biopharmaceutical enterprises. The construction process integrates industrial aesthetics with cutting-edge functionality, incorporating air-source heat pumps, rooftop photovoltaic power generation systems, and industrial steam supply pipelines, enabling the service support building to achieve the dual goals of low-carbon operations and cost reduction with enhanced efficiency.

Leveraging its specialized positioning and forward-looking planning, the park has been honored as a “Zhongguancun Featured Industrial Park.” Furthermore, the park employs a digital management model of “one enterprise, one file,” enabling dynamic tracking of corporate needs and providing precise, rapid response services. Looking further ahead, the park will collaborate with regional laboratories and testing institutions to establish a shared equipment reservation platform, significantly reducing R&D costs for enterprises.
Not only that, the park is designed with the “Tree of Life” as its inspirational theme, constructing“One Core (Central Green Core), Two Axes (Ecological and Vitality Axes), Three Scenes (Sunshine Lawn, Four-Season Garden, Smart Waterscape), Five Courtyards (Themed Courtyards)”a three-dimensional ecological panorama. With a green coverage rate of up to 70%, it has become an emerald ecological gem in northern Haidian, brimming with verdant vitality. The expansive “Sunshine Lawn,” the ever-changing scenery of the “Four Seasons Courtyard,” and the winding “Fitness Trail” together paint a vibrant picture of youthful, dynamic living. At its core, the “Central Reception Hall” will serve as a shared social hub for corporate exchanges.

With the official commissioning of the Zhongguancun (Haidian) Bio-Intelligent Manufacturing Industrial Park (Zone B), the nearly one-million-square-meter pharmaceutical and health industry cluster in northern Haidian is leveraging this hub to craft a brilliant new chapter in the integrated development of “R&D–pilot scale-up–production.”
