Peng Xiaochun, Chief Physician of the Department of Joint Surgery at Shanghai Sixth People’s Hospital, shared his understanding of “treasure doctors” on site. He stated that the countless physicians working on the front lines of clinical practice are all “treasure doctors.” By safeguarding lives with benevolence and cherishing every “thank you” from patients, they can foster a warm and mutually engaging doctor–patient relationship in the new era.

Liu Yan, a 55-year-old patient cured by Dr. Peng Xiaochun, also shared her recovery journey at the event. She had long suffered from congenital hip dysplasia, which caused chronic pain and severely limited her mobility. After undergoing two surgical procedures, she not only regained normal walking ability but also returned to the mountainous regions of Yunnan to continue her volunteer work supporting students in need, demonstrating through action the hope brought by medical rehabilitation.

Internet Healthcare Breaks Through Time and Space Barriers, Making High-Quality Medical Resources Easily Accessible

As a vital component of the healthcare service system, internet-based healthcare is delivering increasingly significant value by breaking down temporal and spatial barriers and offering convenient medical access through one-click consultations and second-level response times. During the event, special tribute and gratitude were extended to a group of outstanding physicians providing internet-based medical services on JD Internet Hospital.

According to the latest interim results for 2025 released by JD Health, as of June 30, the average daily volume of online consultations at JD Internet Hospital exceeded 500,000, further consolidating its position as the “primary entry point for online diagnosis and treatment.” Over the years, JD Internet Hospital has been committed to advancing innovation in healthcare services. It pioneered the integration of a closed-loop service model encompassing medical consultation, testing, diagnosis, and pharmaceuticals, thereby expanding the boundaries of medical services and enhancing the quality and efficiency of online diagnosis and treatment. Meanwhile, it has continued to strengthen the development of key specialty departments in internet healthcare, establishing five core specialty systems focused on dermatology, psychiatry and psychology, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), oncology, and andrology.

Based on this, JD Internet Hospital has always regarded physicians as the core of the development of internet healthcare, focusing on and addressing the needs of the medical community to better support and serve doctors, thereby maximizing the value and enhancing the overall well-being of online practicing physicians.

At JD.com, there is an “unwritten” rule: employees who have served for five years are referred to as “Five-Year Veterans.” Starting in 2024, this longstanding internal tradition has been extended and expanded to include partner physicians at JD Internet Hospital.

This year, a total of 4,408 physicians from JD Internet Hospital were awarded the honorary title of “Five-Year Distinguished Physician.” Ten representative recipients, including Hou Maihua, Chief Physician in the Department of Dermatology at Jiangsu Province People’s Hospital; Bian Yuyao, Chief Physician in the Emergency Department at Hebei CNPC Central Hospital; and Jiang He, Chief Physician in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Beijing Children’s Medical Center, Capital Medical University, took the stage to receive tribute.

Dr. Hu Xiang, an obstetrician at Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, shared on-site the story of how he provided online care throughout the entire pregnancy of a 37-year-old high-risk expectant mother. From preconception to delivery, she encountered a series of complications, including fallopian tube obstruction, rapid growth of uterine fibroids, and bleeding during the second trimester. Thanks to the internet hospital platform, Dr. Hu promptly adjusted her medication regimen and provided telephone guidance for medical visits. This approach not only spared the patient unnecessary travel but also delivered timely psychological support and treatment recommendations, ultimately ensuring the safe delivery of both mother and baby.

Dr. Wu Shouquan, an attending physician in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at West China Hospital of Sichuan University, also shared the story behind two special silk banners at the event. The patient had been plagued by a persistent cough for two years and had undergone multiple unsuccessful treatments at local hospitals. Later, the patient consulted Dr. Wu through JD Internet Hospital. After remote consultations and a thorough re-evaluation of the patient’s medical history and imaging data, Dr. Wu resolved the long-standing issue within just two months. Deeply moved, the patient first presented a digital banner online and then traveled specially from another city to Chengdu to deliver a physical banner in person as a gesture of gratitude.

The special event “Healers with Light—2025 Chinese Doctors’ Day” not only expressed profound respect and gratitude to the medical community, but also effectively enhanced communication and understanding between doctors and patients through initiatives such as story collections and themed activities, thereby playing a positive role in fostering a favorable social atmosphere that respects medical professionals and values healthcare.

Looking ahead, JD Health will continue to leverage its core strengths, constantly explore innovative models of medical and health services, provide doctors with higher-quality platforms for professional practice, deliver more convenient, efficient, and accessible healthcare services to patients, and contribute greater momentum to the in-depth implementation of the Healthy China strategy.
