I. Conference Information
Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa, with a real GDP of $432.3 billion by the end of 2020. The Nigerian healthcare market is valued at $5.5–6 billion, yet it suffers from severe supply shortages. Nigeria’s medical equipment relies heavily on imports, with approximately 99% of medical devices procured from overseas. Domestic production capacity is extremely limited, currently focusing primarily on syringes.
Currently, the Nigerian government is promoting the construction of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) production facilities and encouraging foreign investment in healthcare infrastructure. As a core member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Nigeria’s market serves as a gateway to the broader regional market. Therefore, this summit is chaired by the Nigerian Minister of Health, hosted by the Nigerian Embassy in China, and co-organized by AFKMED and VCBeat, aiming to build a bridge for market alignment between China and Nigeria in the healthcare industry and accelerate bilateral market exchange and interaction.
The conference will concurrently host one main forum and multiple thematic seminars. It will bring together a top-tier lineup of guests, including academicians, scientists, clinical experts, corporate leaders, innovative technology companies, and investors, gathering outstanding talents and practitioners from all sectors of the healthcare industry. The event aims to create a cutting-edge window for China-Nepal healthcare cooperation, establish a collaborative platform integrating government, industry, academia, research, and capital, open up resources and partnerships, and jointly build a more vibrant innovation ecosystem for the China-Nepal healthcare industry.
