Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital and Beidian Shuzhi Announce Strategic Collaboration to Advance AI-Driven Pharmaceutical Innovation and Sleep Medicine Research

Recently, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital and Beijing Electronic Digital Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Beidian Shuzhi”) entered into a strategic partnership. Leveraging Beidian Shuzhi’s “Spark·Medical Foundation,” the two parties will conduct joint research in multiple innovative “AI + Healthcare” fields, including large language models for pharmacy, large language models for sleep medicine, trusted pharmacy data spaces, and embodied intelligence. These initiatives will be first implemented at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, establishing a closed loop between technological iteration and clinical validation. This collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency and intelligence level of medical services, promote equitable access to healthcare, and support the Healthy China strategy.

As a large public general tertiary hospital leveraging the disciplinary strengths of Tsinghua University and one of the 22 municipal hospitals in Beijing, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital is oriented toward resolving clinical issues and meeting societal health needs. By capitalizing on Tsinghua University’s multidisciplinary advantages and focusing on the intersection of medicine and engineering as a breakthrough point, the hospital has established a clinical problem-driven health technology innovation system, underpinned by robust and profound research capabilities. The Sleep Medicine Center at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital is regarded as a “model project in sleep medicine” and possesses extensive clinical practical experience in this field. Furthermore, as a “National Drug Clinical Trial Institution” approved by the China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital has obtained qualifications to conduct drug clinical trials in 30 specialties.

This strategic collaboration will deeply integrate Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital’s extensive clinical practice and research expertise with Beidian Digital Intelligence’s systemic advantages in full-stack AI infrastructure, trusted data services, and industry empowerment. Together, the parties will co-develop large language models for pharmacy and sleep medicine, advance the construction of a trusted pharmaceutical data space, and promote the application of cutting-edge intelligent technologies such as embodied AI, thereby comprehensively enhancing the quality of clinical diagnosis and treatment, medical research, and hospital management services.

Both parties will also explore full-stack localization adaptation of large medical models with domestically produced AI chips, and study flexible computing power deployment forms suitable for the healthcare industry, such as intelligent computing centers, edge computing centers, and all-in-one machines. In the future, Beidian Digital Intelligence and Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital will jointly promote the formulation of standards for large models and data elements, co-author relevant industry white papers, and provide replicable innovation paradigms for the industry.
