On October 24, the 17th Healthy China Forum—Technology for Disability Assistance Thematic Forum, hosted by People’s Daily Health Client and supported by JD Health Public Welfare, was held in Beijing. Focusing on “Empowering Disability Assistance with Technology,” the forum brought together government representatives, academicians and experts, medical institutions, and technology enterprises to jointly explore innovative applications of intelligent rehabilitation equipment, digital health services, and AI technologies in the field of disability assistance. JD Health’s medical device business comprehensively showcased its active practices in building new infrastructure for the technology-driven disability assistance industry, centered on the “Product + Service + AI” paradigm, thereby fostering greater consensus and solutions for industry development and helping to further improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Launch of the “Disability Assistance Zone,” with high-quality product offerings covering 30,000 brands and thousands of subcategories

Currently, with social development and technological advancement, the demand for high-quality medical health products and services among people with disabilities is growing steadily. Data from JD Health shows that since 2025, search volumes for four major categories of rehabilitation and disability-assistance products—namely walkers, hearing aids, nursing beds, and wheelchairs—have surged significantly. However, users still face numerous pain points in practical use, including opaque information, concerns about quality and user experience, neglect of patients’ emotional needs, and challenges in delivering “last-mile” medical care.

In May this year, JD.com officially launched its “Disability Assistance Zone,” featuring three main sections: assistive devices for persons with disabilities, products made by persons with disabilities, and intelligent health services. Users can access the zone directly by searching “Technology for Disability Assistance” on the JD app. Currently, JD Health’s disability assistance offerings cover 30,000 brands and thousands of subcategories, providing professional tech-enabled products such as hearing aids, mobility aids, bed-assist devices, bathing aids, and rehabilitation therapy equipment to meet the comprehensive health needs of persons with disabilities across all scenarios. The zone also includes a “Wish List” feature to collect unmet user demands, driving product innovation and customized R&D.

To address the “last mile” care challenge facing traditional disability assistance services, JD Health leverages its closed-loop service advantage spanning “medical consultation–testing–diagnosis–medication.” By offering convenient services such as online consultations, at-home rapid testing, in-home nursing care, and express medication delivery, JD Health extends professional-grade medical services—characterized by “online physician consultations, at-home testing, home-delivered medications, and in-home nursing”—further into a comprehensive omnichannel ecosystem covering hospital-based, home-based, and pharmacy-based scenarios, both online and offline. This approach truly serves broad public welfare needs through highly accessible, localized (“small-radius”) services.

AI-Driven Disability Assistance Services: More Considerate and Efficient, with Targeted Support for Frontline Employees Through the Donation of Hearing Aids Worth Millions

AI-enabled technology is also one of JD Health’s core competitive advantages in leveraging technology to assist people with disabilities. Leveraging its self-developed “Jingyi Qianxun” medical large language model and big data from user health records, JD Health has become the industry’s largest knowledge base for medical device products, with a repository of over 1.5 billion user health records. It also integrates more than ten specialized AI agent roles, including AI doctors such as Da Wei and Xiao Wei, laying a solid foundation for lifelong disease prevention and chronic disease management.

To make high-tech assistive devices for people with disabilities more accessible, JD Health announced a partnership with brand allies to jointly launch the “Hearing-Impairment Friendly Initiative.” The company will donate hearing-assistive products worth millions of yuan, specifically targeting JD’s frontline employees with hearing impairments—such as logistics couriers, food-delivery riders, and domestic cleaners—to help improve their quality of life and service efficiency, thereby facilitating high-quality employment. Going forward, JD Health will continue to collaborate with various sectors of society to carry out diverse public-welfare initiatives for people with disabilities, including health lectures, on-site free clinics, and material donations, leveraging technology to empower individuals with disabilities to work and live with greater confidence and ease.
