The current field of health science popularization faces challenges such as inconsistent content quality, monotonous dissemination formats, and poor alignment between professional medical resources and public demand. Some popular science content lacks scientific backing or is interspersed with commercial promotions, failing to meet the public’s need for authoritative health knowledge. With the in-depth advancement of the “Healthy China 2030” strategy and the rapid development of health technologies such as AI and large language models, high-quality health science popularization has become a key lever for improving the health literacy of the entire population.

In this context,InChinese Society for Science and Technology Journalism, Health Commission of Hainan Province, Wenchang Municipal People's Governmentunder the guidance of, byHainan Association for Science and Technology, Health Communication Professional Committee of the Chinese Society for Science and Technology Journalism, Beijing Chen Jumei Public Welfare FoundationCo-organized by2025 Inaugural Health Technology and Science Popularization ConferenceStart“Annual Outstanding Science Popularization Communicator” “Annual Outstanding Science Popularization Work”Selection Activity. This selection is based on“Discovering High-Quality Science Popularization Practices, Recognizing Professional Science Communication Forces”With this as the core objective, the initiative targets individuals engaged in health science communication across China (including physicians, entrepreneurs, bloggers, etc.) and institutions that produce health science outreach outcomes (such as medical institutions, technology enterprises, research institutes, and social organizations). Leveraging the ecosystem of the inaugural Health Technology and Science Communication Conference, it establishes a platform for the presentation, exchange, and promotion of selected individuals and works.

Candidates for Selection

Setting a Benchmark for Science Popularization, Delivering Professional Value

This selection comprehensively reviews innovative pathways in health science popularization across content creation (including text-and-image articles, videos, audio content, and self-media accounts), technological applications, and communication effectiveness. It aims to address pain points such as insufficient scientific rigor and inefficient dissemination, while stimulating the enthusiasm of practitioners from various fields to engage in science popularization. The initiative guides the industry toward a convergent direction of “professional content + technology empowerment + diversified dissemination,” thereby facilitating broader and more precise public access to high-quality health knowledge.

Outstanding Science Communication Figure of the Year

Designed to honor diverse professionals who possess both deep expertise in their specialized fields and strong science communication capabilities, including clinicians, leaders of health technology enterprises, health science bloggers, and dedicated science communicators. Grounded in their professional backgrounds, they break down knowledge barriers by translating complex health information, principles of medical technology, and health management concepts into content accessible to the general public. They actively explore innovative dissemination methods—such as AI tools, short-form videos, interactive live streaming, and multi-platform self-media operations—to significantly enhance the efficiency and reach of health knowledge dissemination. By developing unique styles in areas such as disease prevention, chronic disease management, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and popularization of medical technology, they substantially improve health literacy among target populations. Serving as a vital link between professional health resources and public health needs, they establish a multifaceted benchmark of excellence in both “professionalism” and “communication” for the nationwide popularization of health knowledge.
