On November 14, 2025, in observance of World Diabetes Day, Embecta Corp. (NASDAQ: EMBC), a global leader in the manufacture of insulin delivery devices, announced a significant deepening of its partnership with Direct Relief, a U.S.-based global humanitarian aid organization and the largest charitable provider of insulin in the United States.
In 2022, embecta spun off from Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), and BD-branded pen needles for disposable injection pens (hereinafter referred to as “pen needles”) and syringes were formally integrated into embecta’s product portfolio. In 2025, product packaging in North America was updated from the BD brand to the embecta brand, creating a significant opportunity to donate legacy-brand injection devices to populations worldwide in urgent need of medical supplies. To date, embecta has donated approximately 15 million pen needles and syringes to Direct Relief. In 2026, as packaging updates continue to roll out in international markets, both parties will deepen their collaboration to ensure that vulnerable populations globally have access to the pen needles and syringes they need. This major commitment represents the largest humanitarian partnership since embecta’s independence and will provide strong support for Direct Relief’s comprehensive diabetes assistance programs for vulnerable groups worldwide.
Dev Kurdikar, CEO of Embecta, stated, “On this significant World Diabetes Day, Embecta is deeply honored to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring equitable access to essential diabetes management supplies for all patients, regardless of their ability to pay or geographic location. Since our inception, we have been dedicated to empowering individuals with diabetes to transcend the limitations of the disease and embrace fuller lives. Our partnership with Direct Relief will extend this mission to every corner where assistance is needed.”
Yingbaida’s donation will significantly enhance Direct Relief’s capacity to serve uninsured and low-income patients with diabetes through the “Safety Net Support Program.” Under this initiative, Yingbaida’s diabetes medical products—including syringes, pen needles, and diabetes management supplies—will be precisely delivered to patients who cannot afford insurance and do not qualify for Medicaid. This ensures they have consistent and reliable access to essential medical tools for diabetes management, preventing treatment interruptions due to resource constraints.
Amy Weaver, CEO of Direct Relief, stated: “Direct Relief welcomes Yingbaida’s outstanding contributions to expanding access to diabetes care. As one of the largest charitable providers of insulin globally and in the United States, we are pleased that, through our partnership, Yingbaida’s support will benefit thousands of individuals—from children with type 1 diabetes assisted through the ‘Life for a Child’ program to uninsured adults supported by safety-net initiatives—thereby providing them with more robust healthcare security.”
Globally, Inbetta’s products will fully support the collaboration between Direct Relief and the “Saving Lives of Children” initiative. This program is dedicated to providing life-sustaining diabetes medical care to children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes in resource-limited countries. Since 2011, Direct Relief has continuously supported this initiative, which has thus far benefited more than 53,000 children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes across 45 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Furthermore, through the “Global Diabetes Collaboration” jointly launched by Direct Relief and the International Diabetes Federation, the pen needles and syringes donated by Yibaida will bring hope to diabetes patients in more than 30 countries facing crises or severe shortages of medical resources. Recently, Yibaida partnered with Direct Relief to donate 2.7 million pen needles and syringes in support of humanitarian relief efforts in Sudan, jointly undertaken by the Sudanese Diabetes Federation and other regional charitable organizations. This donation underscores the shared conviction of Yibaida and Direct Relief that the health and lives of individuals with diabetes must be staunchly protected, even in areas affected by humanitarian crises.
Inboda’s commitment extends beyond material donations to the field of diabetes education. We will support the collaboration between Direct Relief and the Diabetes Education & Camping Association (DECA), helping to sustain the operations of its national camping network. These camping programs create a safe and professional environment for children and adolescents with diabetes. Under the full supervision of medical teams, participants can engage in diverse outdoor activities, systematically learn diabetes management skills, connect with peers, and build confidence and courage. Inboda’s previous donations of pen needles, syringes, sharps containers, and other supplies have provided a solid foundation for the camping experiences of thousands of young people, and we will continue to uphold this responsibility in the future.
This collaboration will further strengthen emergency response capabilities. In July 2025, Yinbaida donated $25,000 to Direct Relief to support relief efforts in Texas following storms and flooding, ensuring that local patients with diabetes continued to receive medical support during the crisis. Moving forward, both parties will continue to deepen this cooperation, building a robust “safety net” of medical security for patients with diabetes in the face of natural disasters or humanitarian crises, so that treatment is never interrupted.
According to data from the International Diabetes Federation, there are currently over 537 million people with diabetes worldwide, and this number is projected to rise to 783 million by 2045.[2]In the United States, there are approximately 38 million individuals with diabetes; however, access to affordable healthcare and supplies remains a significant challenge, particularly for the uninsured and underinsured populations. Diabetes contributes to 6.7 million deaths globally each year, with mortality rates directly correlated to economic stability and accessibility of medical resources. In response to this global challenge, Yingbaida recognizes its profound responsibility and is committed to driving tangible change through concrete actions, ensuring that every patient with diabetes receives dignified, high-quality medical care.
