Preface

Brain science, as a strategic frontier leading the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, is witnessing a historic breakthrough in its transition from the laboratory to industrialization. In July 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, together with six other departments, jointly issued the Implementation Opinions on Promoting Innovative Development of the Brain-Computer Interface Industry, sounding the “assembly call” for the high-quality development of future industries centered on technologies such as brain-computer interfaces.

Building a high-end R&D platform that integrates technology, capital, and industry, while converging key innovation elements such as technological innovation, industrial commercialization, capital integration, and talent development, and strengthening multi-party collaboration among government, industry, academia, research, and healthcare, will jointly create an internationally competitive brain-computer interface (BCI) industry ecosystem. This endeavor has become a practical national imperative and the core driver for future industrial development in this field.

Five Years of Accumulation: Setting a New Benchmark for the Brain Science Industry Ecosystem

Since 2021, the Shenzhen Society for Neuroscience, in collaboration with the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Institute of Brain Science and Technology, has consecutively hosted four editions of the “Brain Science Industry Conference” to address the aforementioned national and local needs. The conference has attracted three Nobel laureates, 12 academicians from China and abroad, and hundreds of leading experts, while connecting more than 500 innovative enterprises. It has emerged as an influential high-level dialogue platform both domestically and internationally, substantially driving the robust development of China’s brain science industry.

To thoroughly implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, “seize the commanding heights of scientific and technological development and continuously foster new quality productive forces,” and “promote the deep integration of scientific and technological innovation with industrial innovation,” the Shenzhen Society for Neuroscience willDecember 28–29 at Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (Shenzhen Guangming), to hostThe 5th Frontier Brain Science and Industry Conference & 2025 Shenzhen Brain-Computer Interface and Human-Computer Interaction Technology Expo(hereinafter referred to as the “2025 Shenzhen Brain Expo”).
