Professor Tian Junzhang, former Party Secretary of Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital (Guangdong Emergency Hospital) and Vice Chairman of the Health Management Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, delivered an address.

In his opening remarks, Professor Tian Junzhang pointed out that the launch event for the pilot program on high-quality workplace health management in Guangzhou represents a key practice in implementing the “Healthy China” strategy and safeguarding the health of the working population. He emphasized that, in the face of intertwined challenges posed by traditional occupational diseases, chronic conditions, and mental health issues, it is essential to drive a systematic transformation of health services from a “disease-treatment-centered” model to a “people’s-health-centered” one. The core of this transformation lies in practicing the concept of “proactive health,” strengthening early screening and risk intervention, and promoting cross-sector “integrated innovation” to build a multi-stakeholder collaborative service model that integrates prevention, treatment, management, and health promotion. It is hoped that this pilot initiative will establish a demonstrative pathway for workplace health management practices.

Building a healthy workplace requires policy guidance, corporate commitment, and, most importantly, the dedicated efforts of professional service providers. The key to effective corporate health management lies in aligning with the company’s operational health needs while addressing employees’ personalized health demands; it involves delivering robust health protection through professional services and conveying humanistic care, thereby fostering mutual benefits for both enterprises and employees. Professor Wang Zhanshan, Secretary-General of the Management Committee for the National Pilot Project on Innovative Integration in the Prevention and Control of Major Chronic Diseases and Secretary-General of the Working Committee for the Pilot Program on High-Quality Workplace Health Management, delivered a report titled “Work Plan for the Pilot Program on High-Quality Workplace Health Management.”

Professor Wang Zhanshan provided a comprehensive and detailed interpretation of the work plan, offering in-depth insights into its core content and practical implementation pathways, thereby providing clear guidance to representatives from participating enterprises and public institutions. Professor Wang emphasized, “Employees dedicate the prime years of their lives to their employers; therefore, enterprises have a moral obligation to ensure their health and well-being.” He pointed out that traditional physical examinations alone can no longer meet employees’ health needs. High-quality workplace health management must transcend the single-mode examination approach and evolve into a systematic engineering project encompassing multiple dimensions, such as risk prevention and control and the enhancement of health literacy. As the primary responsible entities, enterprises should increase their health investments, noting that “health investment is directly proportional to employee longevity.” This pilot project utilizes ten easily quantifiable indicators—including blood pressure, blood glucose, and sleep quality—as evaluation criteria, promoting the implementation of corporate health management through a four-tier assessment framework. During the session, Professor Wang further elucidated the scientific rigor and operational feasibility of the plan by integrating practical health knowledge, while clarifying that health management should prioritize key populations and core needs to help narrow health disparities among employees. Professor Wang called on all enterprises and public institutions to actively participate in the pilot program, integrate health management into corporate strategy, effectively fulfill their primary responsibility for health, and enable employees to achieve “50 years of healthy working life,” thereby contributing corporate strength to the implementation of the Healthy China strategy.

Mr. Huang Ji systematically elucidated the key challenges facing employee health management, starting from the practical needs of corporate operations. He pointed out that the traditional “employee physical examination + medical insurance” model can no longer meet the health demands of the modern workplace. It is urgent to integrate multi-party resources and establish unified industry standards to create synergies, thereby building a high-quality healthy workplace ecosystem with Chinese characteristics. Guided by the implementation plan for pilot programs in high-quality workplace health management, Ping An leveraged its six core service advantages—professional corporate health management expertise, global medical service network, global emergency assistance, professional on-site corporate services, 24/7 consultations with Peking University physicians, and convenient home-based services—to innovatively launch the “Ping An Corporate Health Management Service Plan.” To date, it has provided a professional and convenient medical and health service system to over 4,500 corporate employers across China, continuously enhancing employees’ health benefit experiences and improving corporate health management standards.
