CAS Ion Medical Technology Co., Ltd. Completes First Round of Equity Financing, Raising RMB 800 MillionRecently, CAS Ion Medical Technology Co., Ltd. completed its first round of equity financing, successfully raising RMB 800 million. During this funding round, numerous prestigious institutions expressed strong interest in investing. After a rigorous selection process, the company chose the National Council for Social Security Fund’s Zhongguancun Independent Innovation Special Fund and Legend Capital to jointly lead the investment, leveraging their strategic partnership potential. The company also secured additional investment from its existing shareholder, Xiamen ITG Investment Co., Ltd., injecting robust momentum into its long-term future development.

As a leading enterprise in China’s ion beam medical equipment sector, CASHIM and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lanzhou Taiji Ion Technology Co., Ltd., have leveraged over 50 years of scientific research accumulation across three generations at the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. With more than two decades of dedicated focus on the R&D and industrialization of tumor treatment equipment, the company developed China’s first carbon ion therapy system with independent intellectual property rights in 2019, which entered clinical application in 2020. This achievement broke through foreign technological barriers in the field of ion beam radiotherapy, making China the fourth country globally, after the United States, Japan, and Germany, to master heavy ion cancer treatment technology.

After six years of technological iteration and clinical practice, CASHIM’s products have evolved from a single carbon-ion therapy system into a multi-ion combined therapy system with world-leading performance. Its independently developed treatment planning software and treatment control software, applicable to heavy ions, protons, and neutrons, have been put into clinical use, establishing the company as an enterprise capable of independently providing a full suite of hardware and software solutions for ion therapy. Leveraging superior product performance, high cost-effectiveness, and efficient operation and maintenance services, CASHIM has secured a commanding lead in orders within its niche market, becoming a top-tier global supplier of ion therapy equipment.

Meanwhile, four devices have been deployed in clinical treatment, establishing a mature clinical application system. They have provided precise treatment services to over 3,500 patients across more than 50 disease types, with their clinical efficacy and operational efficiency widely recognized by both the industry and patients.

To achieve universal and equitable access to ion therapy, the company continues to invest substantial funds in the research and development of new products. Recently, it independently developed the world’s first combined light-ion therapy system. This system can deliver proton and helium ion beams with an energy of 230 MeV/u (range exceeding 30 cm) for clinical treatment; it can also provide carbon ion beams with a range of 10 cm for treating tumors in the head and neck, extremities, and other regions; furthermore, it has the potential to enable proton CT imaging. The facility, including three treatment rooms, occupies only 1,500 m². Compared with heavy-ion therapy equipment, it significantly reduces equipment and construction costs, thereby addressing the challenge of high overall investment associated with ion therapy systems.

This round of financing introduces strategic investors, which will not only help CASHIM further strengthen its core technological advantages and accelerate the expansion into international markets, but also integrate resources, stabilize corporate strategic planning, and improve the corporate governance system. By leveraging the company’s AI Center to interconnect ion therapy devices across China and aggregate high-quality medical resources, we aim to reconstruct diagnosis and treatment processes with digital intelligence technologies, achieve the strategic goals of strengthening key points, connecting lines, and building a shared network, and establish an inclusive platform for precision ion beam radiotherapy that shares various medical elements for the benefit of the nation and its people.
