Sequoia China Completes Global Acquisition of Moxifloxacin Business to Build a Leading Anti-Infective and Critical Care Biopharma Platform

Sequoia China Announces Formal Completion of Acquisition of Moxifloxacin (Brand Name: Avelox), the Core Product of Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics, on February 2, 2026®/Avelox®) the global acquisition of related businesses and assets, and established an innovative biopharmaceutical company focused on anti-infectives and respiratory fields—Hangzhou Shanze Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanze Bio”)—with its parent company, Ascenda Pte. Ltd., responsible for the operation of this business.


Under the agreement, Shanze Biotech and its parent company, Ascenda Pte. Ltd., obtained Avelox®Specific assets worldwide, including drug registration certificates, intellectual property rights, and business contracts in relevant countries and regions, have laid a solid foundation for the product’s continuous supply and future development in the global market.


Avelox®It is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic first approved in Europe and the United States in 1999. Currently, it is marketed in more than 100 countries worldwide in tablet or intravenous injection formulations for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including community-acquired pneumonia, skin infections, sinusitis, and chronic bronchitis. For over two decades, Moxifloxacin®Trusted by physicians and patients, it has gained broad clinical recognition in the Chinese market and achieved substantial revenue.


This acquisition marks a significant milestone in the implementation of Shanze Biopharma’s strategic layout, which focuses on core disease areas and adopts a “dual-wheel drive” business model. Shanze Biopharma aims to build a leading biopharmaceutical platform focused on anti-infectives, respiratory diseases, and critical care. In the future, it will adopt a business model of “mature products + innovative pipeline”: on one hand, leveraging Avelox®This mature product, validated by global markets, will rapidly establish robust cash flow and a mature commercialization platform; meanwhile, the company will continue to introduce late-stage innovative products to build a R&D pipeline with long-term competitiveness.


Mr. Jin Xiaodong was recently appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Shanze Biotech. Mr. Jin is a highly influential senior executive in China’s pharmaceutical industry, with decades of extensive experience in the sector. He has held core management positions at numerous multinational pharmaceutical companies and domestic biopharmaceutical enterprises. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Jin served as General Manager of a Business Unit at Pfizer China, where he played a pivotal role in team building and advancing strategic alliances with commercial partners, making significant contributions to the successful transformation of several key business units.
