Recently, Sequoia China announced that it had formally completed the global acquisition of the business and assets related to moxifloxacin (brand name: Avelox®), a core product in the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics, on February 2, 2026. To operate this business, it established Hangzhou Shanze Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (“Shanze Biopharma”), an innovative biopharmaceutical company focused on anti-infectives, respiratory diseases, and critical care, along with its parent company, Ascenda Pte. Ltd.
Under the agreement, Shanze Biotech and its parent company, Ascenda Pte. Ltd., have acquired specific global assets related to Avelox®, including drug registration certificates in relevant countries and regions, intellectual property rights, and business contracts, thereby laying a solid foundation for the product’s continuous supply and future development in the global market.
Avelox® is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that was first approved in Europe and the United States in 1999. It is currently marketed in over 100 countries worldwide in tablet or intravenous injection forms for the treatment of various bacterial infections, including community-acquired pneumonia, skin infections, sinusitis, and chronic bronchitis.
