Dual functional and multifunctional specific peptide drug developers

On February 5, 2026, Everest Medicines announced that it had entered into an exclusive commercialization license agreement with Shaanxi Micot Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd. (“Micot”), obtaining the exclusive rights to commercialize MT1013 in China and the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Japan).

Under the agreement, Everest Medicines will pay Micot an upfront payment of RMB 200 million, as well as potential regulatory and commercial milestone payments of up to RMB 1.04 billion.

MT1013 is the world’s first dual-target receptor agonist peptide, simultaneously targeting the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR) and the osteogenic growth peptide (OGP) receptor. It is being developed primarily for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT). The Phase III clinical trial in China is currently underway, with Micot bearing the associated clinical development costs.

It is understood that secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is one of the most common and serious complications in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). This condition leads to a series of pathological changes, including disorders of calcium and phosphorus metabolism, elevated parathyroid hormone levels, bone lesions, and vascular calcification, which significantly increase the risk of fractures, cardiovascular events, and mortality, making it a key factor affecting the prognosis of CKD patients.
