During the 2026 “Two Sessions” in China, proposals and motions concerning three key areas—respiratory diseases, specialized treatment (specifically Huawei’s neonatal care for premature infants), and rare diseases—have drawn significant attention from enterprises.

CaseyDeng Haoqing, President and General Manager for China, stated to VCBeat: “We have observed that proposals submitted by representatives from various regions this year frequently address the prevention and control of respiratory health issues among children, students, and the elderly. This reflects a profound societal emphasis on respiratory health and underscores strong calls for strengthening early prevention and diagnosis of respiratory diseases, standardizing treatment protocols, and facilitating the decentralization of high-quality medical resources.”

Deng Haoqing stated that, as a company with 90 years of deep expertise in the respiratory field, Chiesi is committed to serving patients with respiratory diseases across the entire life cycle, from neonates to the elderly.

In recent years, Kesi has not only accelerated the introduction of global innovative treatment solutions in China but also further expanded online and out-of-hospital channels, enabling patients to access innovative products more conveniently. Meanwhile, the company has actively responded to national policy directives, including the integration of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) into the basic public health system and the promotion of “early screening, early diagnosis, and early treatment” for COPD and asthma.

For 90 years, Casey has also been deeply engaged in specialized treatment, providing care and compassion to the most vulnerable premature infants.

Since entering the Chinese market in 2001, Chiesi’s specialized therapeutic products have safeguarded over 1.42 million premature infants in China, reigniting happiness and hope for them and their families. Actively responding to national initiatives on neonatal health and early-life protection, Chiesi collaborates with various sectors of society to promote the dissemination and adoption of beneficial public health policies. Additionally, the company provides virtual and mixed reality interactive training to help enhance neonatal care capabilities at the primary healthcare level.

“Proposals at the Two Sessions in recent years have continued to focus on building a fertility-friendly society and safeguarding newborn health, which has deeply encouraged us and heightened our sense of responsibility.”

In addition to continuous innovation in respiratory diseases and specialty care, Chiesi has been accelerating the expansion of its rare disease business in China in recent years.

In the field of rare diseases, Deng Haoqing further pointed out that due to the low incidence rate, limited patient population, long drug development cycles, and high costs, many patients still face practical dilemmas such as “difficulties in diagnosis, treatment, medication access, and insurance coverage.” The 15th Five-Year Plan period is a critical stage for the high-quality development of healthcare services, during which the state has explicitly proposed strengthening rare disease prevention and control and improving the medical security system.

As a company deeply committed to the field of rare diseases, Casey is delighted to see that, driven by the implementation of favorable policies in multiple regions and the continuous optimization of national review and approval processes, the time-to-market for many of its rare disease therapeutics has been significantly shortened. These medications have either benefited patients earlier through the “Temporary Import of Clinically Urgent Drugs” policy or have been rapidly approved via the “Priority Review” pathway, swiftly addressing unmet medical needs in these disease areas.

It is reported that, under the guidance of national policies, China’s multi-tiered medical security system for rare diseases has been continuously improved. In addition to having its rare-disease products included in the National Reimbursement Drug List (NRDL), Chiesi China has also had multiple products incorporated into theHuiminbao”, we are achieving the leap from “no available treatments” to “accessible therapies,” bringing long-awaited hope to patients with rare diseases in China. This also further strengthens the company’s confidence and momentum in accelerating the introduction of more innovative therapies, thereby tangibly enhancing the sense of health security among the rare disease community.图片
