Addressing the Respiratory Challenges of 300 Million Patients: Online Services Promote “Proactive Management” of Nasal Health

Rhinitis may appear to be a “minor ailment,” yet it genuinely disrupts the daily lives of a large number of patients. According to the 2026 White Paper on Nasal Health Industry released by JD Health, patients with nasal diseases often exhibit multimorbidity. The five key scenarios that serve as primary triggers for medication purchases are: influenza season, pet exposure, travel-related changes, chronic disease management, and concurrent dermatitis.

Cheng Lei, Chairman of the Allergy Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and Director of the Department of Allergy (Allergology) at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, pointed out in his keynote speech that the construction of digital diagnosis and treatment platforms is driving the transformation of healthcare service models from “disease-centered” to “health-centered.”

An increasing number of patients are shifting their medication-purchasing habits from offline to online channels. Patients with nasal allergies can consult with physicians via JD Internet Hospital, who can order laboratory tests online. JD nurses then perform home sample collection. Once the test results are available, the physician provides a diagnosis and issues a prescription, allowing the patient to purchase the medication and have it delivered directly to their home.

White paper data indicates that 67.7% of users have purchased medications via e-commerce platforms within the past year, with JD.com accounting for 56.4% of these users. The habit of purchasing medications online is particularly pronounced among younger demographics and patients in higher-tier cities. In terms of self-directed selection, 84.2% of users make their own decisions by searching keywords, with over 30% directly searching for disease names such as “rhinitis” and “sinusitis.”

It is reported that in 2025 alone, JD Health partnered with over 350 brands in the field of nasal health. The transaction volume of related medications increased by 45% year-on-year, and the number of new users for nasal medications approached 5 million. The JD Health ENT Center has gathered nearly 2,000 doctors from Grade A tertiary hospitals across China and is exploring a multidisciplinary collaborative model, enabling patients to complete consultations with multiple specialties from home. Data from JD Internet Hospital shows that 31% of nasal and allergy-related consultations occur between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM the following day. Meanwhile, leveraging JD Health’s self-developed “Jingyi Qianxun” medical large language model, the AI doctor “Da Wei” can respond to user inquiries 24/7. The AI management assistant proactively sends protective reminders during pollen season, provides risk warnings based on allergy indices, and helps users avoid discomfort in advance.

From Channel Collaboration to Co-Creation of Models: Pharmaceutical Companies and Platforms Join Forces to Explore New Pathways for Growth in Nasal Health

As a digital bridge connecting patients and pharmaceutical companies, JD Health continues to leverage its platform capabilities to help pharmaceutical enterprises expand their growth potential. At the conference, multiple guests engaged in discussions on how to leverage online channels to achieve precise reach and high-quality growth, while representatives from various pharmaceutical companies shared their practical experiences collaborating with JD Health.

Jin Bo, General Manager of Dezhong under China Traditional Chinese Medicine Holdings Co., Ltd., shared the company’s strategy for revitalizing its 40-year-old classic product, “Biyankang Tablets,” on JD.com. He believes that “the best innovation stems from patients’ unmet health needs.” The essence of reinventing an established medication is not merely repackaging it, but rather delivering time-tested, high-quality products to patients in the manner that best meets their contemporary needs.

Liang Xia, General Manager of Shandong Tianshun, reviewed the breakthroughs achieved in 2025 through the collaboration between its allergic rhinitis nasal spray, “Shuntuomin,” and JD Health. By leveraging exclusive service modules such as the “Respiratory Care Center” and the “Non-Hormonal Rhinitis Medication Zone,” the company extended online sales into comprehensive, full-cycle medication management. She stated, “The 2025 collaboration between Shuntuomin and JD Health was not merely a simple expansion of distribution channels, but rather a breakthrough in business model and an upgrade in services.”

Hu Fan, Vice President of Shenji Pharmaceutical, discussed the marketing strategy for Zyrtec, a widely used anti-allergy medication under its portfolio. He stated that the core of their marketing strategy lies in “leveraging offline channels to provide professional depth for prescription patients, while using online platforms to cover decision-making scenarios for OTC consumers, ensuring that the right content reaches the right people through the right channels.” Looking ahead to 2026, Hu revealed that Shenji Pharmaceutical will establish a dedicated in-house team to manage its allergy product line in out-of-hospital channels, shifting from “channel operations” to “user engagement,” and will collaborate with JD Health to explore a comprehensive lifecycle management system for allergies.

Multiple Major Partnerships Materialize, Continuously Expanding the Nasal Health Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

On the day of the event, JD Pharmacy’s Allergy Care Center was officially launched. Users troubled by allergic rhinitis and other allergy-related issues can search for “Allergy Care Center” on the JD App to access popular science information about allergies. They can also consult with doctors from JD Internet Hospital and JD pharmacists online, receiving services such as online consultations and medication guidance.

At the conference, several major collaborations were officially launched. Changfeng Pharmaceutical signed a strategic cooperation agreement with JD Health, which will serve as the exclusive online launch platform for multiple new respiratory and ENT products over the next three years. Meanwhile, three innovative drugs made their exclusive debuts at the event: Grand Pharma’s innovative combination product, Laiteling, had its exclusive omnichannel launch on JD Health; Yiling Pharmaceutical’s TCM Class 1.1 innovative drug, Qifang Bitong Tablets, launched exclusively nationwide in a new specification; and Liangmianzhen Yikang Pharmaceutical’s Shuanglutong Cange Biyan Pian also made its online debut on the platform.

Moreover, the launch ceremony of the Nasal Health Alliance was held at the conference. Co-founded by JD Health and more than ten enterprises, including Organon, Bayer, China Traditional Chinese Medicine Holdings, Yiling Pharmaceutical, Grand Pharma (Jiuhuo), Changfeng Pharmaceutical, and Shenji Pharmaceutical, the alliance aims to integrate resources across the upstream and downstream industry chain. It will foster long-term collaboration in areas such as product innovation, patient services, and industry standards, thereby promoting the standardization and high-quality development of the nasal health industry.

Amid the overarching trend of the nasal health industry transitioning from single-product transactions to a patient-centric, full-cycle service ecosystem, JD Health will continue in 2026 to drive the accelerated and deep integration of digital technologies with the pharmaceutical industry through AI technological innovation and end-to-end service capabilities. This aims to make the protection of every breath more precise, proactive, and accessible.
