On March 23, Sanofi announced in Shanghai a comprehensive strategic upgrade of its existing R&D center in China, establishing a new legal entity for its R&D center in Shanghai. The Shanghai R&D Center will become Sanofi’s largest translational medicine research hub in China. Under the plan, approximately one-third of Sanofi’s new global research projects will be conducted in China in the future, with China participating in more than 90% of global simultaneous development programs. This initiative aims to accelerate the global rollout of innovations led or deeply engaged by China, enabling patients in China to benefit more rapidly from cutting-edge innovative therapies.
Shanghai R&D Center will become Sanofi’s largest translational medicine research center in China. It will be deeply integrated into Sanofi’s network of six translational medicine centers, forming a powerful global R&D synergy. By fully leveraging Shanghai’s world-class scientific research resources and open policy environment, the center will comprehensively accelerate the development of innovative drugs in key therapeutic areas, including immunology, chronic diseases, oncology, and rare diseases.
According to the plan, approximately one-third of Sanofi’s new global research projects will be conducted in China, ensuring China’s participation in over 90% of global simultaneous development programs. This initiative aims to accelerate the global launch of innovations led or deeply involving China, enabling Chinese patients to benefit more rapidly from cutting-edge innovative therapies.
