Supplier of Medical Electronic Endoscopes and Operating Room Solutions

Recently, emerging medical technology company Genesis announced that it has completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in Nanjing TUGE Healthcare Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “TUGE”), a deep-tech enterprise specializing in medical endoscopic imaging technology in China. Following this strategic merger and acquisition, the TUGE brand will become an integral part of Genesis’s general surgery business landscape, jointly building a more comprehensive ecosystem of minimally invasive surgical products. Dr. Wang Yangang, founder of TUGE, will serve as Chief Technology Officer for Visual Imaging Technology at Genesis Group, leading technological innovation and product iteration in this sector. Currently, Genesis’s surgical product portfolio includes staplers, ultrasonic scalpels, surgical sutures, and surgical robots. With the addition of TUGE, Genesis’s product mix will be further expanded.

TUGE, established in 2018, is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research and development, production, and sales of minimally invasive imaging equipment, holding more than 60 invention patents. In 2023, TUGE’s independently developed “4K+3D+Fluorescence All-in-One Endoscopic Camera System (Rigid Scope)” received market approval from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), becoming the first domestically produced all-in-one endoscopic camera system approved in China. The “4K” capability refers to the system’s ability to capture images at 16 megapixels; “3D” indicates that the endoscope restores binocular visual effects through dual-lens acquisition, mimicking human depth perception. During surgery, physicians can leverage fluorescent contrast agents to precisely identify lesion locations within a high-definition and realistic surgical field, thereby facilitating complex minimally invasive procedures.

According to Dr. Wang Yangang, the key performance metrics of medical endoscopes encompass multiple dimensions, with image clarity and precision being paramount. TUGE endoscopes utilize binocular 4K acquisition to deliver highly detailed, three-dimensional images. Furthermore, they incorporate proprietary algorithms to differentiate between tissue types, thereby achieving image enhancement—such as sharpening lesion margins, reducing instrument glare, and enhancing the contrast between arteries and veins. “A high-quality endoscope should serve not only as an extension of the surgeon’s eye but also as their ‘keen-sighted ally,’ assisting in more precise identification of pathological changes and more efficient surgical execution. Therefore, image enhancement capabilities are indispensable,” summarized Dr. Wang Yangang.

“Speed is also a key performance metric for endoscopes,” mentioned Dr. Wang Yangang. “Clear and precise imaging relies on diverse and complex algorithms, which can easily affect image transmission speed and cause latency. Excessive latency leads to desynchronization between the visual feedback seen by the surgeon through the endoscope and their manual movements, thereby impacting surgical progress and quality. Therefore, TUGE has independently developed more than 30 algorithms and adopted an FPGA-based hardware real-time processing solution, significantly enhancing processing speed. Currently, the latency of TUGE’s endoscope main unit is below 30 milliseconds, and the total system latency (including the monitor) is below 50 milliseconds, ensuring that surgeons can perform procedures with ‘hand-eye synchronization.’”

As of the end of 2025, TUGE’s endoscopic equipment has been adopted for clinical use in nearly 200 large and medium-sized hospitals, including the Chinese PLA General Hospital, Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital, Wuhan Union Hospital, and Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital.

Medical endoscopes integrate interdisciplinary knowledge from precision optics, mechanics, algorithms, electronics, and clinical medicine, imposing high demands on core technologies. For a long time, the domestic market has relied heavily on imported brands. In recent years, with technological advancements and breakthroughs by domestic enterprises, the market share of Chinese brands has been gradually increasing for both rigid and flexible endoscopes. According to data analysis from Yaozhi Medical Devices, the overall market share of domestic brands is expected to exceed 35% in 2026–2027. As the policy on new healthcare infrastructure deepens and the “Thousand Counties Project” advances, China’s endoscopy market is accelerating towards high-end, intelligent, and localized development, with technologies such as 4K, 3D, and AI assistance becoming standard features.

Notably, according to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China, China’s endoscope exports have experienced rapid growth since 2022. In 2025, the export value reached RMB 4.47 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 32.48% compared with RMB 3.374 billion in 2024, making endoscopes one of the few categories among exported medical devices that boast both large scale and high growth rate.

Regarding this acquisition, Wang Xin, Chairman and CEO of Genesis Medical Technology Group, stated, “In recent years, Genesis’s surgical business has achieved steady progress. Through independent R&D, incubation, and strategic collaborations, our product portfolio has been continuously enriched. Particularly in overseas markets, Genesis has launched comprehensive solutions for surgical products and introduced multiple self-developed innovative products. TUGE boasts profound technical expertise in rigid endoscopic imaging; its endoscopes integrate 4K, 3D, and fluorescence capabilities into a single system, representing high-end products comparable to international brands. The addition of TUGE will inject industry-leading ‘visual’ capabilities into Genesis. In the future, we will also accelerate the overseas registration of TUGE’s products to provide overseas physicians with more diverse product solutions.”
