  • Chai Discovery, Basecamp Research, Boltz, and other ecosystem leaders are combining NVIDIA BioNeMo, agentic AI, and physical AI to drive the scalable advancement of scientific research and drug development.

On January 12 local time, at the J.P. Morgan Global Healthcare Conference, NVIDIA announced a major expansion of NVIDIA BioNeMo™, which will support lab-in-the-loop workflows through an open development platform to drive breakthrough advances in AI-driven biology and drug discovery.

The life sciences industry generates vast amounts of scientific data. The development platform provided by BioNeMo can be used to generate and process data, as well as to train, optimize, and deploy models—enabling the entire industry to transform data into a powerful engine for discovery, maximizing the probability of success while minimizing R&D costs, which are currently estimated to reach $300 billion.

BioNeMo has now expanded to include:

  • All-New NVIDIA Clara™ Open Models: Including the RNAPro model for RNA structure prediction, and the ReaSyn v2 model for ensuring that AI-designed drugs are practically synthesizable.

  • BioNeMo Recipes, making it easier to accelerate and efficiently scale the training, customization, and deployment of biological foundation models.

  • BioNeMo data processing libraries, such as nvMolKit, a GPU-accelerated cheminformatics tool designed for molecular design.

“Biology and drug discovery are entering a transformative moment,” said Kimberly Powell, Vice President of Healthcare at NVIDIA. “BioNeMo transforms experimental data into AI-ready intelligence, enabling every experiment to inform subsequent research. This creates a continuous learning loop that not only accelerates the pace of discovery but also helps researchers build more cutting-edge models to tackle the most challenging problems in biology.”

On the same day, Eli Lilly announced a groundbreaking partnership with NVIDIA to establish a joint innovation laboratory dedicated to tackling long-standing challenges in drug discovery and development. Meanwhile, Thermo Fisher Scientific also announced a collaboration with NVIDIA aimed at advancing the intelligent transformation of scientific instruments and enhancing autonomous laboratory operations.
