NVIDIA and Eli Lilly Establish AI Co-Innovation Lab to Transform Drug Discovery

NVIDIA and Eli Lilly will form a world-class interdisciplinary team, bringing together top scientists, AI researchers, and engineers to jointly tackle core challenges in drug development.
The joint innovation laboratory will build its infrastructure based on the NVIDIA BioNeMo platform and the NVIDIA Vera Rubin architecture.
Both parties will take the lead in exploring the application of robotics and physical AI to accelerate and scale up drug discovery and production processes.
On January 12 local time, at the J.P. Morgan Global Healthcare Conference, NVIDIA and Eli Lilly and Company jointly announced the establishment of a pioneering AI Joint Innovation Lab, dedicated to leveraging AI technology to address many long-standing challenges in the pharmaceutical industry.
The laboratory will combine Eli Lilly’s world-leading expertise in drug discovery, development, and manufacturing with NVIDIA’s leadership in AI, accelerated computing, and AI infrastructure. Over the next five years, the two parties will jointly invest up to $1 billion in talent, infrastructure, and computing power to support this new AI joint innovation laboratory.
The laboratory will be established in the San Francisco Bay Area and will operate under a co-location model, enabling close collaboration between Eli Lilly’s experts in biology, science, and pharmaceuticals and NVIDIA’s leading AI model architects and engineers. By generating large-scale datasets and leveraging the key platform NVIDIA BioNeMo™, the team will build powerful AI models to accelerate new drug development.
