Currently, pathological diagnosis serves as the “gold standard” for disease diagnosis. However, the industry widely faces practical challenges such as workforce shortages, heavy slide-reading workloads, and variability in diagnostic subjectivity. Leveraging the advantages of AI technology—namely, 24/7 availability, high efficiency, and superior objectivity—this collaboration aims to deliver faster, more accurate, and more consistent services, thereby ensuring that high-quality pathological resources truly benefit a broader population.

Suzhou Takes the Lead: Anchoring Its Digital Health Strategy to Create an AI Pathology Demonstration Model

As a national pioneer in the digital and intelligent transformation of healthcare, Suzhou is vigorously advancing the digitization of health services.“4+5+5+N”Overall Layout.AI pathology is one of the five key application areas, led and coordinated by the Suzhou Municipal Health Commission with unified deployment.

As the lead entity for the project, the Suzhou Municipal Health Commission has fully leveraged its advantages in policy guidance, industry regulation, and resource coordination. By making effective use of the overall layout of the Suzhou Health and Medical AI Capability Center, it has coordinated the promotion of quality improvement and upgrading of regional pathology services and the construction of a digital health ecosystem, thereby providing robust policy guarantees and institutional support for pilot initiatives.

As one of the first companies in China to obtain a Class III medical device registration certificate for pathology AI and a leading innovator firmly positioned in the first tier of large AI models for pathology, PathoAI leverages its independently developed InsightPath multimodal large model as its core technological foundation. The company has built an integrated software-and-hardware product matrix covering four major scenarios: cytopathology, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular pathology. It provides comprehensive digital and intelligent pathology services spanning intelligent scanning, cloud storage, computer-aided diagnosis, quality control, as well as teaching, training, and research analysis, thereby fully empowering the construction of Suzhou’s city-level pathology data standards and algorithmic infrastructure.

Demonstration and Leadership: Building a National Innovation Hub for Nationwide Promotion

This strategic partnership represents a significant implementation of Suzhou’s “4+5+5+N” digital health strategy and serves as a model for the deep integration of policy, technology, and market forces. Upon implementation, the project will substantially enhance regional pathology service capabilities and quality control standards, support Suzhou in cultivating new quality productive forces in medical AI, and establish a national innovation hub for digital and intelligent pathology.

Looking ahead, the three parties will use the Suzhou pilot as a starting point to deepen collaboration, summarize experience, and optimize models, thereby promoting the transition of pathology AI from regional demonstration to nationwide adoption. By leveraging digital intelligence to reshape the value of pathological diagnosis, they aim to make greater contributions to the Healthy China initiative and the high-quality development of healthcare services in Suzhou.
