The accelerated completion of this fundraising round reflects investors’ confidence in Bain Capital’s 20-year investment track record in Asia, its differentiated value-creation model, and its adeptness at handling complex investments by leveraging its globally integrated platform.
Boston, USA, May 18, 2026— Bain Capital today announced that its sixth Asian fund (“Asia Fund VI”) has completed its final close, reaching a total size of $10.5 billion, with approximately $9.1 billion coming from external investors, surpassing the previous fundraising target of $7 billion. Consistent with the longstanding tradition across Bain Capital’s funds, partners, employees, and related entities of Bain Capital also contributed capital, collectively constituting the fund’s largest single investor. This fundraising milestone coincides with the 20th anniversary of the firm’s deep engagement in the Asian market, fully reflecting investors’ confidence in Bain Capital’s Asian private equity investment platform.
Over the past two decades, Bain Capital has leveraged its locally embedded professional teams, deep industry research expertise, and close collaboration with company management to implement its mature value-creation capabilities in regional markets, establishing itself as a leading private equity investment platform in Asia. Today, Bain Capital combines the resource and strategic advantages of a global industry leader with robust localized operational strength derived from its deep regional engagement.
Currently, Bain Capital has established a highly integrated investment platform across Japan, India, China, Australia, and South Korea, bringing together nearly 200 investment and operations professionals. The platform focuses on key sectors including technology, industrials, consumer, healthcare, as well as business and financial services. Leveraging close synergies with Bain Capital’s global private equity business and related segments such as credit, insurance, real estate, special situations, and technology investing, the platform delivers enhanced expertise, greater flexibility, and more robust resource support to address complex investment opportunities throughout Asia.
Yuji Sugimoto, Partner at Bain Capital and Head of Private Equity in Asia, stated: “Bain Capital’s private equity business has always centered on operational optimization, strategic transformation, and deep collaboration with management teams to help companies fully unlock their potential. Over the past 20 years, we have built a comprehensive capability framework in the Asian market, effectively integrating local insights with Bain Capital’s global strengths to consistently deliver superior returns for investors and portfolio companies across various market cycles. Looking ahead, we remain optimistic about the vast opportunities in the Asian market. We are continuing to strengthen our talent base, enhance technological empowerment, and upgrade our platform’s comprehensive capabilities, pursuing business scale expansion at a steady and prudent pace to create long-term value through investment.”
Leveraging its local leadership team, operational expertise, and strong strategy execution capabilities, Bain Capital Asia holds a distinct advantage in navigating complex transformational investment scenarios, such as corporate carve-outs, founder succession, industry consolidation and M&A, domestic enterprise restructuring, and cross-border business expansion. In these contexts, the integration of frontline local operational capabilities with cross-industry and cross-platform resource reserves constitutes Bain Capital’s significant core competitive barrier. The establishment of its sixth Asian fund will further strengthen Bain Capital’s ability to identify high-quality opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region, while continuing to support companies’ growth, transformation, and long-term value creation.
