June 4, 2026,MedtronicAnnounced a partnership with the company known in the industry as the "King of Rigid Endoscopes"KARL STORZ(Karl Storz)Strategic Cooperation Reached, both parties will join forces to advance the implementation of integrated solutions for otorhinolaryngology surgery.

As part of the collaboration, Medtronic will deeply integrate its AiBLE ENT ecosystem with KARL STORZ’s endoscopy and visualization systems.
The system includes the Stealth AXiS ENT Surgical System, which received FDA 510(k) clearance this March. Integrating surgical planning, navigation, and robotics, it represents a key strategic asset for Medtronic in its cranial and spinal technologies portfolio. The two parties will also jointly launch medical education programs, helping surgeons gain hands-on proficiency with both technologies through specialized training courses and industry conferences.
Dan Mendelson, Vice President of Global Markets for Medtronic’s Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) business, stated in the announcement,The core of this collaboration is to make it easier for customers to integrate appropriate technologies into the operating room.
Chris Smith, Vice President of Endoscopy Sales and Marketing at KARL STORZ USA, emphasized,Both parties will deliver more unified end-to-end solutions through closer integration of their professional expertise.
It is worth noting that,These two companies have collaborated before.
As early as 2019, Medtronic publicly announced its four-year partnership with KARL STORZ, the latter providing a 3D vision system for Medtronic’s Hugo robotic-assisted surgery system. From robotic vision to end-to-end integration in otolaryngology, the scope of collaboration between these two industry giants continues to expand.
Just 24 hours before the announcement of the collaboration,Medtronic has just delivered a performance report that has caught the market's attention.
The full-year FY26 financial report released on June 3, 2026, shows thatMedtronic Achieves Revenue of $36.4 Billion, Up 8.4% Year-over-Year, marking the strongest annual growth rate in nearly a decade. In the fourth quarter alone, revenue reached $9.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, exceeding market expectations. The cardiovascular business remained the largest growth driver, contributing $3.8 billion in the quarter, a year-on-year increase of 13.8%, largely driven by strong demand for its pulsed field ablation product portfolio.

Medtronic CEO Geoff Martha attributed this performance to the breadth and depth of innovative technologies in its product portfolio during the earnings conference call, and provided guidance for FY27 organic growth of 6.75% to 7.25%.
Behind this performance,It is Medtronic's two-year strategic restructuring that is yielding dividends.
From its exit from the ventilator market in 2024, to the formal completion of the diabetes business spin-off (MiniMed’s independent IPO) in early 2026, and further to the merger of its cardiac surgery and aortic divisions, Medtronic’s streamlining strategy is clearly evident: divesting non-core assets, consolidating similar businesses, and focusing on high-growth areas.
In terms of financial firepower, Medtronic is also firing on all cylinders.In 2026 alone, the company completed three major acquisitions:
Signed an agreement in March to acquire Scientia Vascular for $550 million, expected to be completed in the first half of fiscal year 2027 (neurovascular technology);
In April, completed the $585 million acquisition of CathWorks (coronary artery disease detection)
In May, it announced the acquisition of SPR Therapeutics (chronic pain management) for $650 million, which is also expected to be completed in the first half of fiscal year 2027;
The three transactions totaled approximately $1.785 billion,Covering the three major sectors of cardiac intervention, neurovascular, and pain management.
Returning to the collaboration with KARL STORZ, the market is more concerned about the extent of the chemical reaction that can be generated by the marriage of two giants in their respective fields.
From Medtronic’s perspective, although ear, nose, and throat (ENT) is a niche segment within the cranial and spinal technologies portfolio, the launch of Stealth AXiS has opened up entirely new possibilities for this sector. Geoff Martha stated candidly during the Q3 earnings conference call in February 2026,"Stealth AXiS: 'Perhaps the Most Underrated New Product'—It Is Not a Simple Extension of the Robotic Platform, but an Entirely New Architecture Built on the StealthStation Navigation Platform"Today, this architecture is rapidly being replicated from the spine to the ENT and cranial fields.
From Karl Storz’s perspective, the “King of Rigid Endoscopy” is not content with merely being in the “lens business.” In 2024, Karl Storz acquired surgical robotics company Asensus Surgical for approximately $95 million, formally entering the robotics arena and embarking on the development of the next-generation LUNA system.
According to data from a third-party industry agency, KARL STORZ held over 40% of the market share for rigid endoscopes in China in 2022. The company has approximately 9,400 employees worldwide and achieved sales revenue of €2.17 billion in 2023.The partnership with Medtronic has precisely addressed the key shortcomings in navigation and robotic software for this endoscopy giant.
For the entire ENT surgery market,The symbolic significance of this collaboration may be even more profound.
In the past, navigation systems, endoscopic equipment, and surgical robots in ENT operating rooms were supplied by different manufacturers, requiring hospitals to coordinate with multiple vendors and undergo repeated integration efforts. Medtronic and KARL STORZ are now attempting to break this fragmented landscape by providing a comprehensive, end-to-end solution that covers the entire chain from assessment and procurement to implementation.
The concept of integrated operating room solutions is not new., but when an industry leader with the world’s most comprehensive portfolio of medical devices and the "King of Rigid Endoscopy," boasting over 70 years of expertise in the endoscopic field, truly come together,The competitive barriers in the ENT sector have been quietly raised.
