R&D and Producer of Interventional Medical Devices for Heart Disease
The 12th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair will be held from June 11 to 13 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Under the theme “Building a New Ecosystem for Technology Trade and Jointly Writing a New Chapter in Global Cooperation,” this year’s fair highlights the role of driving technological innovation, focuses on digital-intelligent and green transformations, and centrally showcases a range of core hard-tech achievements in fields such as leading industries, emerging pillar industries, and future industries.
Over the past two days, reporters from The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) conducted on-site visits and interviews with some of the participating enterprises and institutions.
Minimally Invasive Treatment for Tricuspid Regurgitation Without Thoracotomy
During an on-site visit, the reporter entered the product room of HuiHe Healthcare. Xu Jun, the company’s Chief Technology Officer, held a K-Clip transcatheter tricuspid annuloplasty system, which resembles a large syringe in appearance, and conducted a special live demonstration for the reporter. He explained that the catheter is inserted through the blood vessels in the patient’s neck and advanced to the tricuspid valve area of the heart. Once in position, small screws at the tip of the device are slowly embedded into the annulus, causing the clips on both sides to close together. This reduces the diameter of the dilated annulus, thereby preventing blood regurgitation. “The operational principle of this device is similar to that of a corkscrew,” Xu said while manipulating the handle.
The tricuspid valve is one of the four "one-way valves" in the human heart. When regurgitation occurs, blood flows backward, causing symptoms of heart failure such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and lower extremity edema, which can be fatal in severe cases. There are approximately 16 million patients with tricuspid regurgitation in China, including 5.5 million with severe conditions. Traditional open-heart surgery requires sternotomy, cardiac arrest, and cardiopulmonary bypass, which many elderly patients cannot tolerate. "Our product does not require open-chest surgery; it only needs vascular puncture and can achieve the same effect as surgical procedures," Xu Jun told reporters. Currently, this product has completed over 500 clinical implants in more than 100 hospitals across China, with a surgical success rate of 97.8%.
Xu Jun told reporters that this was the company’s first participation in the Shanghai International Trade Fair. “The most important objective is to seek a broader overseas stage for this product of ‘intelligent manufacturing in China.’” He revealed that the company is accelerating its efforts to obtain EU CE certification, with expectations of securing the registration certificate by year-end, and is also actively identifying entry points to advance its U.S. FDA submission process.
This Institute of Cryptography,Meeting the Needs of High-End Scientific Research and Testing Services
Cryptography is the core technology for safeguarding cyberspace security. Last March, the Shanghai Municipal Cryptography Administration and the People’s Government of Pudong New Area jointly initiated the establishment of the Shanghai Pudong Cryptography Research Institute, providing core security support for the cross-border secure flow of data and digital infrastructure under the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby promoting the international development of China’s commercial cryptography industry.
Professor Yang Min, Dean of the Shanghai Pudong Institute of Cryptography, told reporters that since its establishment, the institute has gathered a group of top-tier domestic cryptography researchers and industry experts. It has been deeply engaged in cutting-edge fields such as post-quantum cryptography, large model security, and trusted communications, while establishing an advanced cryptographic testing environment for frontier scenarios and developing high-precision, state-of-the-art testing tools. Over 80% of the research team members hold master’s degrees or higher, and a comprehensive dual-appointment talent recruitment and management model has been initially established.
During a visit, The Paper learned that the institute’s state-of-the-art commercial cryptography testing zone covers more than 1,140 square meters and has developed specialized tools such as a side-channel analysis platform and a non-invasive fault injection platform, initially establishing information security testing capabilities aligned with CC EAL4+. Currently, the institute’s Cryptography and Chip Security Testing Laboratory boasts a top-tier secure environment, a comprehensive suite of cutting-edge testing methodologies, and professional hardware equipment. It meets the demands for various high-end research and testing services, including cross-border mutual recognition testing, cryptographic security testing, and chip attack-and-defense assessments, with both its software and hardware capabilities reaching the highest international standards.
Yang Min stated that, as a national strategic scientific and technological force in the field of cryptography, the Shanghai Pudong Cryptography Research Institute aligns with mainstream international testing and certification standards, builds a cryptographic security system and international compliance channels, and is making every effort to support the construction of a modern industrial system, helping Chinese commercial cryptography technologies, products, and services go global.
Beauty and Health Companies to Participate in the Exhibition as a Group
At this year’s Shanghai International Commodity Fair, “Meichuang Jingjie” from Jing’an District will lead a delegation of 25 beauty and health enterprises to showcase cosmetics, raw materials, and beauty-health devices through exhibitions, roadshows, and business negotiations, thereby connecting with more resources.
Zhu Zihui from the marketing department of Meichuang Jingjie told reporters that “Meichuang Jingjie” is an innovative ecosystem community for beauty and health. Since its launch on May 8, 2025, it has attracted 102 promising domestic beauty companies with core technologies and renowned experts to settle in. Meanwhile, it has signed agreements with L'Oréal China, Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, and Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital to carry out joint research such as clinical translation and medical-research co-creation.
On the 5th, a reporter visiting the site observed that Phase I of Meichuang Jingjie is located on Lingshi Road in Jing’an District and comprises five floors. The AI zone on the first floor offers beauty-tech experiences such as skin quality analysis. Floors two through four provide office spaces with shared enterprise occupancy solutions, supporting “move-in ready” operations. The fifth floor houses a public laboratory dedicated to building a dual-core functional platform for “concept validation + efficacy validation.” Meanwhile, Meichuang Jingjie has partnered with Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University to establish a research platform integrating three core functions: innovative R&D, clinical translation, and incubation acceleration.
Currently, “Meichuang Jingjie” has established an integrated beauty-tech ecosystem featuring front-end R&D commercialization, mid-stream incubation and acceleration, and back-end consumer implementation. Moving forward, it will drive the effective translation of more beauty and health-related scientific achievements, accelerate its AI+beauty initiatives, and strive to become a global leader in the beauty and health industry.
