According to the product sales data disclosed in the 2018 financial reports of various biopharmaceutical companies, there were a total of 134 blockbuster drugs with global annual sales revenue exceeding US$1 billion in 2018. Among them, the top 100 drugs generated a combined sales revenue of US$319.8 billion, with the threshold for inclusion being US$1.331 billion (approximately RMB 9 billion).

The top 10 drugs generated nearly $88 billion in sales revenue, accounting for 27.5% of the total revenue of the top 100 drugs. Eight of these were biologics, while only two were small-molecule drugs: Eliquis (apixaban) and Revlimid (lenalidomide). In terms of indications, the top 10 drugs were primarily used to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases. Additionally, the two anticoagulant drugs, apixaban and rivaroxaban, demonstrated strong performance.
In terms of product growth, Roche’s multiple sclerosis drug Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) recorded the largest increase, with sales revenue surging by 172% in 2018 to reach an impressive CHF 2.353 billion (USD 2.373 billion).
