Illumina Acquires Conexio Genomics to Strengthen HLA Typing and Transplant Diagnostics Capabilities

Yesterday, Illumina announced that it had acquired Conexio Genomics, an Australian provider of HLA typing solutions. The specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Illumina first partnered with Conexio in March 2015 to offer the TruSight HLA solution. This acquisition will enable Illumina to develop NGS-based diagnostic assay technologies for transplantation.

“The addition of Conexio’s products and personnel will strengthen our HLA capabilities and demonstrate Illumina’s ongoing commitment to the fields of HLA and transplantation science,” said Alex Lindell, Co-Director of Market Development for HLA at Illumina, in a statement.

Conexio's NGS development project will be integrated into Illumina's existing business unit.
