Amgen Announces Collaboration with Precision Medicine Company Syapse to Leverage Real-World Data for Insights Supporting Cancer Drug Development

Syapse, Inc. is a biotechnology company that helps physicians select the most suitable precision medicine interventions for patients by integrating previously fragmented clinical, molecular, therapeutic, and health outcomes data.Syapse’s data-sharing network aggregates real-world medical information from multiple hospital systems, including anonymized electronic health records, pathology reports, and DNA sequencing data. Under the R&D agreement, Amgen and Syapse will jointly develop analytical tools for observational studies to evaluate treatment outcomes in oncology areas with unmet needs. This collaboration will initially focus on identifying patients suitable for Amgen’s clinical trials within Syapse’s network, and then expand trial access to sites near these patients. Both parties will assist physicians in the Syapse network in utilizing these analytical tools to gain insights based on real-world evidence and explore opportunities for collaborative research.

Amgen will have the opportunity to use real-world evidence to support regulatory applications for specific candidate therapies in oncology. Amgen will also collaborate with Syapse, Inc. to develop standards for real-world evidence, accelerating the market launch of innovative therapies.
