Merck Joins TRANSVAC2 Project to Advance Vaccine Development and Manufacturing

TRANSVAC2 is part of the European Union’s “Horizon 2020 Programme” (Horizon 2020) an infrastructure cooperation project.

byEuropean CommissionWith funding from the European Commission (EC), TRANSVAC2 strengthens European vaccine research and training, enhances the sustainability of EC vaccine initiatives by deploying permanent research infrastructure for early-stage vaccine development, and thereby accelerates vaccine development. Merck has been included in the list of collaborators under the TRANSVAC2 program.

As part of this project, Merck will hold two-day training courses in 2019 and 2021 for applicants evaluated by the TRANSVAC2 Selection Panel at the facility recently established by Merck in Molsheim, France.M Lab™ Collaborative CenterTraining. Participants will experience simulated laboratory workflows, which help them acquire the essential skills required for process development and familiarize themselves with single-use technologies.

Merck is focused on identifying effective ways to accelerate vaccine development and manufacturing, including collaborating with leading research institutions and industry partners to introduce new technologies that can significantly boost the global vaccine sector. To achieve this goal, Merck will fully leverage its internal manufacturing expertise, as well as its process knowledge in the preparation of viral vaccines and vectors.
