Today (May 24), the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved Novo Nordisk’s marketing application for NovoMix® (insulin degludec/insulin aspart injection) in China for the treatment of adult type 2 diabetes. It is reported that NovoMix® was included in the National Priority Review and Approval List last September, accelerating its approval for launch in China.

As the first soluble dual-insulin formulation, Ryzodeg® (insulin degludec/insulin aspart injection) consists of 70% insulin degludec and 30% insulin aspart, with the two components of insulin degludec/insulin aspart not interfering with each other structurally.

Professor Yang Wenying, former Chair of the Diabetes Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and former Director of the Center for Endocrinology and Metabolism at China-Japan Friendship Hospital, stated, “Insulin degludec/insulin aspart achieves effective glycemic control with lower insulin doses while significantly reducing the incidence of hypoglycemia. As the first dual-insulin formulation approved in China, its market launch will bring greater benefits to blood glucose management for patients with type 2 diabetes in China.”
