VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) has learned that Roche and GE Healthcare recently unveiled their first collaborative achievement—Navify Tumor Board 2.0. This product integrates Roche’s portfolio data on biomarkers, histopathology, genomics, and sequencing with GE Healthcare’s medical imaging and monitoring device data, providing clinical decision support to healthcare professionals and enabling faster and more accurate diagnoses.
It is understood that Navify Tumor Board 2.0 leverages GE’s radiology software and image archiving technology, integrating records, patient profiles, and laboratory data from diverse healthcare systems. Currently, the platform is available for use by oncology healthcare professionals to guide cancer treatment.
Roche is a pioneer in the global pharmaceutical and diagnostics industries, dedicated to advancing science to improve people's lives. The combined strengths of its medicines and diagnostic technologies have positioned Roche as a leader in personalized healthcare, aiming to deliver the right treatment for each patient in the best possible way. Roche Pharma ranks third in the pharmaceutical industry, trailing only Novartis and Pfizer.
GE Healthcare is a $18 billion healthcare business unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), dedicated to acquiring data through hardware, software, and biotechnology. As a leading provider of medical imaging equipment, GE Healthcare boasts over 100 years of industry history, employs more than 50,000 people across 100 countries, and is committed to transforming the healthcare industry by delivering better services to healthcare providers and patients.
Roche and GE Healthcare signed a cooperation agreement on January 8, 2019. Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop and commercialize a digital clinical decision support platform to provide personalized treatment plans for patients with cancer and those in critical care.
Although the initial collaboration focuses on oncology and intensive care, the partnership between the two companies can extend beyond these areas. Roche and General Electric stated that their ultimate goal is to develop Navify Tumor Board 2.0 into a digital clinical decision support platform that integrates extramural laboratory data, medical imaging data, patient records, the latest research findings, and real-time monitoring capabilities.
Michael Heuer, CEO of Roche Diagnostics, stated: “Our focus is on the joint development of clinical decision support solutions to help healthcare professionals make decisions faster and with greater confidence, thereby providing personalized treatment plans for patients.”
Tom McGuinness, President and CEO of GE HealthCare, stated in a press release: “The inability to integrate various types of medical data, such as patient data and medical images, hinders healthcare professionals in making diagnoses and delivering treatment. Navify Tumor Board 2.0 enables oncology care teams to develop optimal diagnostic and treatment plans, thereby benefiting patients.”
It is reported that Navify Tumor Board 2.0 will initially be launched in the United States and Canada, with both companies planning to expand it to other markets in the near future.
