“The Medium- and Long-Term Plan for the Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases in China (2017–2025)” points out that chronic diseases are a category of illnesses posing a serious threat to the health of Chinese residents, and have become a major public health issue affecting national economic and social development. In response to the crisis of chronic diseases in China, the state has formulated prevention and control strategies by promoting the innovative integration of the internet with the health industry, actively exploring new models of chronic disease health management services, fully leveraging information technology to enrich methods and content for chronic disease prevention and control, advancing the application of online services such as appointment-based diagnosis and treatment, online follow-ups, disease management, and health management, so as to provide high-quality and convenient medical and health services.

The focus of chronic disease treatment lies in the long-term management of the condition. The key area of this collaboration between the two parties is precisely targeted at chronic disease management. By leveraging their respective strengths, they will implement chronic disease service management under an online family doctor service model. This approach aims to fully utilize patient consultations to establish and update medical records, conduct health education, and perform online follow-ups for chronic diseases. By actively promoting healthy lifestyles and interventions for chronic conditions, the quality of chronic disease management programs will be significantly improved, allowing patients to gradually benefit from the advantages of internet-based healthcare. Furthermore, Jianke and Pfizer will also explore pilot collaborations across multiple therapeutic areas of Pfizer, including cardiovascular diseases, mental health and neurological disorders, men’s health, women’s health, and pain management.

Jianke CEO Xie Fangmin stated that Jianke and Pfizer are actively responding to national policies by joining hands to explore innovative chronic disease management models, aiming to achieve complementary advantages and multi-party win-win outcomes. “In this strategic plan, Jianke will fully leverage its strengths in mobile healthcare and its proud chronic disease management center system, combined with Pfizer’s high-quality physician resources and extensive expertise in chronic disease management, so that an increasing number of patients can benefit from the vigorous development of ‘Internet+ Healthcare.’” He emphasized, “The shift from a disease-oriented to a health-oriented approach will be the next focal point for the internet healthcare industry, requiring companies to explore mature and diversified business models. We look forward to working hand in hand with our partners to take root in internet healthcare and create a new online smart healthcare platform for family doctors.”

Wu Feng, General Manager of Pfizer’s Established Medicines Business in China, stated, “As a pharmaceutical company rooted in China for 30 years, Pfizer has always been committed to its mission of ‘Collaborative Innovation for a Healthy China.’ We actively respond to the national strategy of strengthening primary healthcare and ensuring basic medical services, striving to ensure that every patient has equitable access to high-quality medical care and medications. With extensive expertise in chronic disease management and a robust product portfolio, Pfizer hopes that this strategic partnership will leverage Jianke’s advanced internet technologies to jointly improve medication accessibility, expand the boundaries of doctor-patient engagement scenarios, disseminate cutting-edge medical knowledge and academic advancements to more physicians, and serve a broader patient population, particularly those with chronic diseases.”

It is understood that, in addition to implementing the online family doctor project, both parties will also collaborate in areas such as internet hospitals, online pharmacies, drug accessibility, chronic disease management, patient education, physician education, grassroots benefit programs, and medical big data. Together, they will explore an innovative, integrated model for pharmaceutical and healthcare services, enabling a growing number of patients to benefit from the robust development of “Internet + Healthcare.”
