VCBeat (WeChat ID: vcbeat) learned from foreign media that on June 26, U.S. local time, medical technology company TissueTech completed an $82 million Series C financing round. The funds from this round will be used to support the company in advancing the next phase of research on its tissue regeneration transplant products, while the company will submit regulatory applications for related products to the FDA as soon as possible.

It is reported that this round of financing was led by EW Healthcare Partners, with participation from Ballast Point Ventures. In addition, TissueTech has expanded its board of directors, with Martin Sutter, Managing Director and Co-Founder of EW Healthcare Partners, and Senior Advisor William “Bill” A. Hawkins III joining the TissueTech board.

TissueTech, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Florida, USA, is a medical technology company dedicated to providing patients with innovative tissue regeneration therapies for the treatment of ophthalmic conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, and wound care.

TissueTech is dedicated to the research and development of novel therapies for tissue regeneration, with its flagship product being AmnioGraft. AmnioGraft is a biological ocular graft that is currently used by ophthalmologists worldwide to treat ocular surface diseases, such as keratitis, pterygium, dry eye syndrome, and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Utilizing cryopreserved amniotic membrane technology, AmnioGraft reduces inflammation at the affected site upon implantation, promotes tissue healing and regeneration, and integrates with the patient’s native tissue to form an intact surface indistinguishable to the naked eye.

AmnioGraft technology addresses the drawbacks of traditional tissue regeneration surgeries. Although conventional procedures can reduce skin damage, they often adversely affect the eye, leading to symptoms such as ocular surface injury and lens pain, with severe cases potentially resulting in blindness. Furthermore, even when surgery proceeds smoothly, patients inevitably develop ocular scarring, which can impair daily activities for some individuals. AmnioGraft offers long-lasting efficacy, ease of use, and favorable cosmetic outcomes, with complete healing of the ocular surface skin achieved within two to three weeks postoperatively.

AmnioGraft is TissueTech’s first product and the only FDA-designated novel tissue graft product that promotes ocular wound healing while suppressing ocular scarring and inflammation. In addition to AmnioGraft, TissueTech has subsequently launched products such as PROKERA, Cliradex, and AmnioGuard, which leverage novel technologies to treat injuries at various anatomical sites.
