The well-known international third-party medical device website Qmed released a list,Covers the top 115 companies in the global medical device industry, ranked by sales revenue as of December 31, 2018., data sourced from the FactSet and Bloomberg LP databases, for reference only. It is worth noting that the system data from FactSet and Bloomberg LP are utilized by major global financial institutions and investment banks, thereby ensuring high data authority.


All financial market data in this ranking are as of December 31, 2018, with revenue and market capitalization quoted in millions of U.S. dollars.As all non-USD-denominated revenues have been converted into USD from their respective reporting currencies using average historical exchange rates, plusThe fiscal year-end date for some companies in 2018 was not December 31, 2018; therefore, their financial data differs from the 2018 fiscal year report figures.


Among the Top 115 companies, five Chinese enterprises were selected: SHINVA MEDICAL INSTRUMENT CO.,LTD. (46th), Shandong Weigao Group Medical Polymer Co., Ltd. (57th), Lepu Medical Technology (Beijing) Co.,LTD. (69th), Jiangsu Yuyue Medical Equipment&Supply Co.,Ltd. (83rd), and Shanghai MicroPort Medical (Group) Co.,Ltd. (85th).


Compared to the 2018 Top 100 List, all five of the aforementioned companies were included, and their rankings all improved.Lepu Medical rose from 80th to 69th place, and MicroPort climbed from 94th to 85th place, marking a significant improvement!


Many friends in the medical device industry may find it puzzling: Why is Mindray not included in this ranking?


Ranked by sales revenue, Mindray's 2018 revenue of RMB 13.753 billion would place it around 40th.The likely reason is that Mindray was listed on the ChiNext Board on October 16, 2018. Since the statistics require financial data from all listed companies for the entire year of 2018, Mindray was not included in the analysis.
