AbbVie Reports Humira Global Sales of $9.316 Billion in H1 2019 Despite Modest 5.8% Decline Amid Biosimilar Competition

On July 26, AbbVie announced its financial results for the first half of 2019, with net revenues of $16.083 billion, representing a 1% year-over-year decline.

With a large number of biosimilars already launched in the European market, Humira’s global sales declined by 27%. However, its U.S. market, which accounts for the majority of its revenue, maintained exclusivity until 2023 and achieved a 7% growth. As a result, Humira’s total global revenue in the first half of 2019 decreased only slightly by 5.8%, reaching $9.316 billion.
