TOKYO, Sept. 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; CEO: Haruo Naito; “Eisai”) recently announced that it has entered into an agreement with Cogstate Ltd. (Headquarters: Australia; “Cogstate”) regarding the Cogstate Brief Battery, a cognitive function assessment tool developed by Cogstate.(Cogstate Brief Battery, CBB) Reached a business alliance agreement for the exclusive development and commercialization in Japan of the “digital tool for self-assessment of cognitive function.”

The CBB comprises four tests, each designed to measure distinct cognitive domains: psychomotor function, attention, working memory, and learning. It has been developed overseas, including in the United States, as a digital tool for self-assessment of cognitive function.

Eisai is committed to raising awareness of cognitive function by jointly developing the Cogstate Brief Battery (CBB) with Cogstate and promoting its adoption in Japan. As a simple digital tool for self-assessing cognitive function, it can be more conveniently used in various settings, such as at home and in community activities. By using this tool, individuals can objectively monitor changes in their cognitive function, which is expected to facilitate adjustments to their current lifestyle and consultations with specialists and primary care physicians. It should be noted that this tool is not intended to replace medical examinations and diagnoses conducted by qualified healthcare professionals.
