Eisai Launches ETAK® Antibacterial Wipes with One-Week Continuous Antimicrobial Protection

TOKYO, Sept. 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Eisai Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo; CEO: Haruo Naito; "Eisai") launched antibacterial wipes containing the long-acting antimicrobial agent ETAK® in pharmacies and drugstores across Japan on August 29, 2019.

The main ingredient used in this product is ETAK®, a long-acting antimicrobial agent developed by Professor Hiroki Nikawa from the Department of Oral Biology and Engineering, Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, Hiroshima University. After wiping an area with ETAK® antimicrobial wipes, the adhesive component of ETAK® chemically binds the antimicrobial agents to the surface, providing antibacterial effects that last for one week.

Eliminating viruses and bacteria has long been a familiar topic of great interest to consumers, particularly mothers with young children. 2. About the Long-Acting Antimicrobial Agent ETAK®

ETAK® was developed by Professor Hiroki Nikawa of the Department of Oral Biology and Engineering, Graduate School of Biomedical and Health Sciences, Hiroshima University. It is a patented long-acting antimicrobial agent (Patent No. 4830075) that combines quaternary ammonium compounds (also found in hand sanitizers and oral cleansers used by dentists) with silane analogs (fixatives that act as adhesives).
