On September 19, MSD presented the Asian subgroup analysis data from KEYNOTE-181, comparing pembrolizumab versus chemotherapy as second-line treatment for advanced/metastatic esophageal adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma, at the CSCO 2019 Congress.

Trial results demonstrated that, in Asian patients, pembrolizumab as second-line treatment for esophageal cancer showed an overall survival (OS) benefit compared with chemotherapy, along with a more favorable safety profile.
