On October 24, AstraZeneca announced its financial results for the first three quarters of 2019, with product sales revenue reaching $17.315 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17%. Among them, the product sales revenue in the third quarter was $6.132 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18%.
In the first three quarters, AstraZeneca’s oncology portfolio grew by 54%, reaching $6.393 billion; sales revenue from the new CVRM portfolio (Brilinta, Lokelma, and roxadustat) increased by 14%, amounting to $3.207 billion; and respiratory product sales revenue rose by 13%, totaling $3.854 billion.
Revenue in China reached $3.691 billion, a year-on-year increase of 37%. Of this, oncology sales amounted to $1.023 billion, up 67% year on year, while the new CVRM portfolio generated $359 million in sales, representing an 88% year-on-year growth.

Tagrisso’s sales in the first three quarters amounted to $2.305 billion, representing an 86% year-on-year increase. Among this, sales in emerging markets grew by 120%, reaching $553 million, primarily driven by Tagrisso’s inclusion in China’s National Reimbursement Drug List and its approval for first-line treatment of lung cancer. Lynparza’s sales in emerging markets surged by 227%, mainly propelled by its approval in China for ovarian cancer.
In the fourth quarter, AstraZeneca expects Imfinzi (non-small cell lung cancer), Lynparza (ovarian cancer), and PT010 (COPD) to be approved in China. Symbicort (mild asthma) is expected to have its sNDA submitted in China.
