Recently, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Drug and Medical Device Centralized Procurement Service Center released the "Business Briefing for September 2019" (hereinafter referred to as the "Briefing"), which disclosed the top 10 medical consumables by online procurement amount.

It is reported that the total procurement amount for the top 10 medical consumables reached RMB 23.2332 million, accounting for 9.28% of the total procurement value of medical consumables. Among them, BD’s prefilled syringe catheter flusher and Medtronic’s drug-eluting coronary stent system ranked as the top two in procurement volume.

However, the top two products in August procurement were not these two items, but rather Boston Scientific’s single-use intracorporeal injection therapy needle and Nanjing Micro-Tech Medical’s rotatable, reusable soft tissue clip.

In addition, the top 10 medical consumables in August accounted for a total procurement amount of 12.9945 million yuan, representing 6.83% of the total procurement amount for medical consumables.

The Briefing also shows that in September, 8,545 medical consumables and diagnostic reagents listed on the procurement platform in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region were involved in transactions, covering 575 manufacturers and 536 distribution enterprises, with the procurement amount for diagnostic reagents reaching RMB 39.7494 million.

In terms of major categories of medical consumables, orthopedic medical consumables accounted for the highest procurement amount, representing 27.15% of the total procurement amount of medical consumables. The procurement amounts for other categories, such as vascular intervention and ophthalmic consumables, are compared in the figure below:

This August also saw the highest procurement expenditure on orthopedic medical consumables, with “other” and vascular intervention categories ranking second and third, respectively, in procurement value.

It is reported that there are 2,041 online-registered medical institutions across the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In August this year, a total of 478 medical institutions participated in the online procurement of medical consumables, representing a participation rate of 23.97%. The procurement amount reached RMB 190 million, marking a month-on-month increase of 6.15%.

In September this year, a total of 575 medical institutions participated in the online procurement of medical consumables, with a participation rate of 28.84%. The total procurement amount reached 250 million yuan, representing a month-on-month increase of 31.61%.
