On November 6, 2019, to thoroughly implement the "Outline of the Healthy China 2030 Plan" and strengthen the development of "high-quality and efficient medical services," KingMed Diagnostics officially signed an agreement with Pfizer, a globally renowned pharmaceutical company, at the Second China International Import Expo.

KingMed Diagnostics and Pfizer will initially launch a series of precision medicine initiatives in areas such as cancer diagnosis, diagnosis of infectious pathogens, and epidemiology of bacterial/fungal antimicrobial resistance. Upholding the concept of innovative development, both parties will jointly support national healthcare reform, promote the enhancement of standardized diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities at the primary care level, implement various measures for precision diagnosis and treatment, and contribute to the Healthy China initiative.

Wu Kun, General Manager of Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group China, and Liang Yaoming, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KingMed Diagnostics, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.

Empowering the Enhancement of Primary Care Diagnostic and Treatment Capabilities

Due to the influence of multiple factors, bacterial resistance has become increasingly prominent. Improving the overall level of pathogen detection in medical institutions and actively conducting drug resistance testing in more facilities are particularly important for China to strengthen antimicrobial stewardship and promote the scientific use of antimicrobials. In addition, tumor-related genetic testing plays a significant role in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancer. In recent years, while genetic testing has developed rapidly, there are also issues that cannot be ignored. Primary healthcare institutions still have considerable gaps in their diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities in the field of oncology, and insufficient technical capacity for relevant tests hinders the realization of true precision medicine.

Through this agreement, both parties will jointly promote the decentralization of high-quality medical resources to the grassroots level (particularly to general tertiary hospitals and those below), facilitate the rational use of antimicrobials at the grassroots level based on antimicrobial resistance data, and increase the overall ALK/ROS testing rate in China. Addressing current pain points in testing, the two parties will also leverage their multi-platform advantages to establish standardized testing protocols tailored to China and advance precision medicine testing platforms.

Li Jinhui, General Manager of Oncology and Rare Diseases at Pfizer Biopharmaceuticals Group China, stated, “As one of the leading foreign pharmaceutical companies in China, Pfizer has long been actively responding to national policies on health-focused poverty alleviation and strengthening primary healthcare. While bringing the latest treatment options to a broad patient population, Pfizer has consistently sought to make positive contributions to the development of China’s healthcare services through innovative collaborations and models. With this signing, we hope to join hands with KingMed Diagnostics to extend precision diagnosis and treatment to the primary care level, further optimize disease diagnosis and management at the grassroots level, and enhance the comprehensive capabilities of primary hospitals in disease prevention and control.”

Xie Jiangtao, Vice President of KingMed Diagnostics, stated, “We are delighted to join hands in partnership with Pfizer. Adhering to its original mission of ‘helping physicians provide better care,’ KingMed Diagnostics continuously enhances its ability and capacity to empower clinical diagnostic information through the integration of multi-technology platforms and a service network covering China. We believe that this strong alliance and comprehensive cooperation will enable more people at the grassroots level to genuinely benefit from high-quality and efficient diagnostic services, thereby effectively improving the diagnosis and treatment capabilities of primary healthcare institutions.”

Provide High-Quality, Standardized Medical Laboratory Services

How to decentralize high-quality medical resources to the grassroots level, truly enabling 90% of serious diseases to be treated within county-level jurisdictions, and bridging the “last mile” of healthcare delivery, has gradually become a growing focus of attention across all sectors of society.

Signing Ceremony Venue

KingMed Diagnostics, as a leader in China's third-party medical testing industry, has established 37 provincial-level medical laboratories across mainland China and Hong Kong. Its service network extends to township and community levels, covering areas where over 90% of the national population resides. With more than 2,300 logistics outlets, its services range from major first-tier cities to remote counties and townships, providing over 2,600 medical testing services to more than 22,000 healthcare institutions.

In the field of infectious diseases, KingMed Diagnostics currently offers nearly 300 testing items, covering more than ten sub-categories of diseases, including hepatitis, respiratory infections, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, and fungal infections. The company utilizes technical platforms such as molecular pathogen detection, serology/immunology, cell culture, and routine culture, while also introducing internationally advanced platforms. It operates the first medical laboratory in China to achieve dual accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP-LAP) and the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) under ISO 15189 standards. Furthermore, KingMed Diagnostics boasts a multidisciplinary team of experts in clinical laboratory medicine, clinical microbiology, and pathology. In addition, KingMed actively strengthens collaborations with authoritative research institutions; for instance, it jointly established the "Clinical Respiratory Virus Diagnosis and Translational Center" with the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases, a state key laboratory, to comprehensively conduct nucleic acid testing for respiratory viruses.

In the field of solid tumors, KingMed Diagnostics has established a specialized Solid Tumor Center. Adhering to the management philosophy of "comprehensive cancer types and full-process care," the center provides holistic solutions for tumor patients across all stages, including cancer screening, diagnosis, guided medication, prognostic assessment, and hereditary tumor risk evaluation. Meanwhile, KingMed Diagnostics has repeatedly passed proficiency testing programs and internal quality assessment activities conducted by numerous authoritative domestic and international quality evaluation institutions, ensuring that the quality of test results meets international standards. Its professional technical capabilities in non-invasive genetic testing, gene chips, and high-throughput gene sequencing have all received international quality recognition.

Leveraging these advantages, KingMed Diagnostics provides high-quality, standardized precision testing services to patients at the primary care level. In collaboration with its partners, the company further advances the development of precision medicine in China, enhances the prevention and treatment capabilities for cancer and infectious diseases at the grassroots level, improves diagnostic services in primary healthcare institutions, and contributes to raising the national health standards of the Chinese population.
