On November 6, 2019, GSK Consumer Healthcare debuted at the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) with a portfolio of innovative, high-quality self-care products and solutions. This marked its first appearance in the Chinese market under its new business structure, following the completion of its joint venture with Pfizer in the consumer healthcare sector earlier that year. Leveraging the CIIE platform, GSK Consumer Healthcare showcased its rich array of innovative products and services, underpinned by robust scientific expertise and deep consumer insights, thereby providing Chinese consumers with more reliable and effective avenues for self-care and proactive disease prevention.

 

On August 1 this year, GSK announced the completion of its transaction with Pfizer to integrate their respective consumer healthcare businesses, establishing a globally leading joint venture. The joint venture combines the two companies’ highly complementary and consumer-preferred consumer healthcare brand portfolios, becoming a global leader in the over-the-counter (OTC) product sector, with its market share ranking first or second in all key markets, including China.

 

During the China International Import Expo (CIIE), GSK Consumer Healthcare showcased a diverse portfolio of innovative, trusted consumer health products to the public. These included vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements (such as Centrum and Caltrate); skin health products (such as Bactroban); pain management products (such as Fenbid and Voltaren); oral care products (such as Sensodyne and Polident); and respiratory health products (including Contac and Flixonase). Notably, some of the exhibited products were introduced to the Chinese market for the first time via cross-border e-commerce channels. Meanwhile, GSK Consumer Healthcare provided health education to visitors, enhancing their understanding of how to better manage bone health, bodily pain, and tooth sensitivity, while offering hands-on experiences with GSK’s self-care solutions.
